THEATRE CHARLOTTE'S MISSION IS "TO CREATE OUTSTANDING THEATRE OPPORTUNITIES ACCESSIBLE AND RELEVANT TO THE PEOPLE OF THE CHARLOTTE REGION."AFTER CANCELLING THE LAST TWO SHOWS OF THE 2020 SEASON BECAUSE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE PROGRAMMING FOR OUR AUDIENCES THROUGH VIRTUAL, STREAMING, AND OUTDOOR PRODUCTIONS. WE HELD A SERIES OF OUTDOOR CONCERTS IN JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER OF 2020 IN OUR PARKING LOT. WE STAGED WHAT I DID LAST SUMMER IN OCTOBER OF 2020 ALSO IN THE PARKING LOT. OUR ANNUAL PRODUCTION OF A CHRISTMAS CAROL WAS PERFORMED OUTDOORS IN SOUTH CHARLOTTE AND STREAMED ON DEMAND IN DECEMBER. AT THE END OF THE 2020 AN ELECTRICAL FIRE SEVERELY DAMAGED THE BUILDING, BUT WE CONTINUED TO CREATE PROGRAMMING OUTDOORS AND IN OTHER LOCATIONS. IN MARCH 2021, WE STREAMED A READING OF A NEW PLAY, ARMED AND DANGEROUS, AS PART OF OUR THIS IS CHARLOTTE SERIES. IN APRIL WE PRODUCED A MURDER MYSTERY, COVERED TRACKS, AT CAMP NORTH END, THE DUKE MANSION AND THE VAN LANDINGHAM ESTATE, AND IN MAY WE PRODUCED A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM OUTDOORS AT THE MINT MUSEUM. WE HELD OUTDOOR, SOCIALLY DISTANCED ACTING CLASSES FOR TEENS AND YOUTH THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER OF 2020, AND WE RENTED THE PARKING LOT TO A DANCE STUDIO FOR THEIR CLASSES.
