WASHINGTON DCS PREMIER CONTEMPORARY PHYSICAL THEATER SEEKS TO REDEFINE THEATRE BY DEVISING A UNIQUE AND INNOIVATIVE BLEND OF STAGE MOVEMENT, DANCE, TEXT, AND MUSIC WHILE INVESTING IN ARTISTS GROWTH, AND CREATING UNFORGETTABLE VISCERAL EXPERIENCES FOR EVERY AUDIENCE.

MAIN STAGE PRODUCED THREE MAJOR PRODUCTIONS IN THE 2019-20 SEASON AT THE ARLINGTON, VA THEATER THAT GARNERED CRITICAL ACCLAIM: THE TEMPEST, SNOW QUEEN, AND THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA BEFORE HAVING TO CANCEL TWO PRODUCTIONS DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. SYNETIC COMBINES EUROPEAN AND AMERICAN THEATER CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUES TO INSTILL NEW LIFE INTO CLASSIC STORIES AND TO CREATE INNOVATIVE ORIGINAL WORKS. PRODUCTIONS HAVE DISTINCTLY AMBITIOUS AUDITORY AND VISUAL STYLE BROUGHT TO LIFE BY AN INTENSIVELY-TRAINED ENSEMBLE OF ACTORS; SYNETIC AIMS TO CHOOSE WORK AS DIVERSE AND VARIED AS POSSIBLE, HIGHLIGHTING THE UNIVERSALITY AND CONTEMPORARY RELEVANCE OF THESE NARRATIVES. SYNETIC HAS BEEN PARTICULARLY CELEBRATED FOR ITS WORDLESS SHAKESPEARE SERIES. IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, SYNETIC RELEASED ENCORE SCREENINGS OF PRODUCTIONS FROM OUR REPERTOIRE AS WELL AS PRODUCED A MADE-FOR-DIGITAL ADAPTATION OF THE DECAMERON.
EDUCATION AND OUTREACH SYNETICS STUDIO SPACE IN CRYSTAL CITY PROVIDES DANCE, ACTING, AND PHYSICAL THEATER-BASED CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS AND IS HOME OF SYNETICS SUMMER CAMP AND TEEN COMPANY. SYNETIC OFFERS 10 WEEKS OF SUMMER CAMP; FOR EACH SESSION, CAMPERS LEARN AN HOUR-LONG SHOW BASED ON CLASSIC LITERATURE AND POP CULTURE THAT INCORPORATES MYRIAD ARTFORMS, WHICH THEY PERFORM FOR FAMILY ON SYNETICS MAINSTAGE. THE TEEN COMPANY OFFERS A SINGULAR PRE-PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS AGES 13 TO 18. SYNETIC TEACHING ARTISTS TRAVEL THROUGHOUT THE DMV AREA SHARING OUR UNIQUE PERFORMANCE APPROACH WITH PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS THROUGH WORKSHOPS, RESIDENCIES AND PERFORMANCES. KEY PARTNERSHIPS INCLUDE ARLINGTON PUBLIC LIBRARIES AND YOUNG AUDIENCES OF MARYLAND.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT THE THEATERS ACCLAIM IS MOSTLY ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE SINGULAR ENSEMBLE OF ACTOR-CREATORS IT HAS TRAINED AND DEVELOPED OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS. EACH SEASON, THE THEATER AUDITIONS AND WELCOMES NEW ACTORS TO JOIN ITS BODY OF MIND STUDIO AND A SELECT FEW ARE PROMOTED ARE CAST IN PRODUCTIONS AND EVENTUALLY PROMOTED TO THE COMPANY.
