SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS - SAJA SCHOLARSHIPS ENABLES STUDENTS TO ACQUIRE THE NECESSARY EDUCATION TO MEET HIGH JOURNALISTIC STANDARDS. SCHOLARSHIP AWARD IS USUALLY $2,000 PER CANDIDATE AND THE TOTAL AMOUNT PER YEAR HAS GENERALLY BEEN APPROXIMATELY $20,000. UNDERGRADUATES AND GRADUATE STUDENTS CAN APPLY FOR FUNDING FOR THEIR EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES. ALL APPLICANTS MUST SHOW PROOF OF ADMISSION TO A NORTH AMERICAN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION. APPLICANTS MUST EITHER BE OF SOUTH ASIAN DESCENT (INCLUDES: AFGHANISTAN, BANGLADESH, BHUTAN, INDIA, MALDIVES, NEPAL, PAKISTAN, SRI LANKA) OR DEMONSTRATE A KEEN INTEREST IN COVERING SOUTH ASIA AND/OR THE DIASPORA.

THE EVENTS HAVE RANGED FROM A SINGLE-EVENING TO TWO-DAYS OF SEMINARS, PANEL DISCUSSIONS AND WORKSHOPS.
