WE RESCUE STRAY AND UNWANTED CATS AND KITTENS AND OFFER THEM FOR ADOPTION. WE OPERATE A BUILDING TO SAFELY CARE FOR AND SOCIALIZE CATS UNTIL THEY'RE ADOPTED. WE PROVIDE MONETARY ASSISTANCE FOR PEOPLE DESIRING TO SPAY OR NEUTER THEIR PETS, AND TRAP, NEUTER, RELEASE SERVICES FOR FERAL CAT COLONIES. WE HOLD WEEKLY FREE PET FOOD PANTRIES FOR PET OWNERS FACING FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES. WE HELP PEOPLE WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR VETERINARY SERVICES.

OUR RESCUE/ADOPTION CENTER CONTINUES TO HOUSE APPROXIMATELY 87 CATS WHILE AWAITING THEIR PERMANENT HOMES, WHILE PROVIDING FOR ANOTHER 23 IN FOSTER HOMES. OUR WEEKLY ADOPTION EVENTS SAW 235 CATS FIND HOMES.WE CONTINUED OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL COMMUNITY CATS' CARETAKERS IN THEIR MISSION TO TRAP, ALTER AND VACCINATE BOTH FERAL AND STRAY CATS BEFORE RETURNING THEM TO THEIR FAMILIAR COLONIES.WE WERE ABLE TO MAINTAIN OUR PET FOOD BANK, WITH THE CONTINUING GENEROSITY OF THE LOCAL WALMART DISTRIBUTION CENTER, HELPING AN INCREASED NUMBER OF CARETAKERS OF CAT COLONIES, AND INDIVIDUALS IN NEED, FEED THE CATS AND DOGS IN THEIR CARE. A SIMILAR RELATIONSHIP CONTINUES WITH AMAZON, WHICH DONATES CAT AND DOG FOOD, SMALL ANIMAL SUPPLIES, CLEANING SUPPLIES, AND PAPER PRODUCTS. WE RECEIVED A $10,000.00 GRANT FOR SPAYING AND NEUTERING FROM THE CHARLES M. PUGLIESE AND THELMA M. PUGLIESE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION. A TOTAL OF 172 ANIMALS (169 CATS AND 3 DOGS) WERE SPAYED OR NEUTERED IN LESS THAN THREE MONTHS. WE ALSO RECEIVED A $1,000.00 GRANT FOR SPAYING AND NEUTERING FROM THE HANCOCK COUNTY SAVINGS BANK CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, ENABLING US TO HAVE AN ADDITIONAL 18 CATS SPAYED OR NEUTERED. IN ADDITION TO THE ANIMALS SPAYED AND NEUTERED THROUGH THE GRANTS, THE HCHF ALSO PAID FOR THE SPAYING AND NEUTERING OF MANY MORE ANIMALS.WE PAID FOR EMERGENCY VETERINARY CARE FOR AN INCREASED NUMBER OF SICK OR INJURED ANIMALS, ELIMINATING ANIMALS' SUFFERING AND ENABLING THEIR RECOVERY. MANY OF THESE WERE PETS WHOSE OWNERS HAD NO MONEY FOR VETERINARY CARE, WHILE SOME WERE STRAYS. WE CONTINUED TO MAKE NECESSARY IMPROVEMENTS TO OUR BUILDING, ADDING A LARGE WINDOW IN THE OFFICE, AND INSTALLING A NEW AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM AFTER FINDING THAT IT WAS IMPRACTICAL TO REPLACE THE NON-FUNCTIONING COMPRESSOR DUE TO AGE AND REFRIGERANT TYPE. THE NEW SYSTEM WAS PAID FOR WITH A GRANT FROM THE CHARLES M. PUGLIESE AND THELMA M. PUGLIESE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION.
