SHELTER SERVICES - IN 2023, THE BRANDYWINE VALLEY SPCA CARED FOR 17,082 ANIMALS, MAINTAINING A NO-KILL RATE OF 93%. THAT'S 47 ANIMALS PER DAY COMING THROUGH THEIR DOORS SEEKING SAFETY, LOVE, AND HOPE. NEARLY HALF OF THOSE ANIMALS ARE LOST PETS HOPING TO FIND THEIR WAY HOME AND ABANDONED DOGS AND CATS THAT WOULD HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO GO WITHOUT THE BVSPCA. OTHERS ARE PETS IN NEED OF REHOMING, CATS AND DOGS AT RISK OF EUTHANASIA IN OVERCROWDED SHELTERS NEAR AND FAR, AND VICTIMS OF CRUELTY AND NEGLECT. THESE ANIMALS COME INTO THE BVSPCA'S FOUR SHELTERS AND ANIMAL CENTER FROM LOCAL WORK AS THE ONLY OPEN-ACCESS SHELTER SERVING THE STATE OF DELAWARE AND MUCH OF PENNSYLVANIA'S CHESTER AND DELAWARE COUNTIES, OR AS PART OF BRANDYWINE VALLEY SPCA'S SECOND CHANCE PROGRAM WHICH WELCOMES ANIMALS IN NEED FROM SHELTER PARTNERS LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY.
ANIMAL HEALTH CENTERS - THE BVSPCA BELIEVES STRONGLY IN THE HUMAN/ANIMAL BOND AND RUNS SEVERAL PROGRAMS THAT HELP MAKE PET CARE MORE ACCESSIBLE AND REDUCE THE CHANCE THAT A LOVED PET ENDS UP IN A SHELTER SIMPLY FOR FINANCIAL REASONS. IN 2023, THE FOUR BVSPCA ANIMAL HEALTH CENTERS PERFORMED 28,314 SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES AND 19,764 PET WELLNESS VISITS. IN ADDITION, 3,905 FAMILY PETS RECEIVED FREE VACCINATIONS THROUGH TWO DRIVE-THROUGH VACCINE CLINIC EVENTS.
