TO PROVIDE RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR EQUALITY VIRGINIA ADVOCACY AND TO PROVIDE LEGAL ANALYSIS AND EDUCATION ON ISSUES AFFECTING LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER VIRGINIANS.

CONDUCT PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUTREACH EVENTS THROUGHOUT VIRGINIA TO KEEP TENS OF THOUSANDS OF VIRGINIANS AWARE OF THE ISSUES IMPACTING THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY AND INVOLVED IN THE ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAMS. EMAIL CAMPAIGNS AROUND A RANGE OF ISSUES INCLUDING PRO-EQUALITY POLICIES, TRANSGENDER VISIBILITY, AND INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS REACHED 20,000 INDIVIDUALS. ADDITIONAL PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUTREACH EVENTS INCLUDE PRIDE FESTIVALS, REGIONAL EVENTS, AND COMMUNITY FORUMS THAT COLLECTIVELY BRING THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE TOGETHER TO LEARN ABOUT AND DISCUSS ISSUES IMPORTANT TO THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY. PROGRAM SUCCESSES INCLUDE: INCREASING TRANSGENDER ADVOCACY INCLUDING HOSTING AN ANNUAL TRANSGENDER INFORMATION AND EMPOWERMENT SUMMIT (TIES), FACILITATING THE TRANSGENDER ADVOCACY SPEAKERS BUREAU PROGRAM; FOSTERING THE GROWTH OF SMALL TRANSGENDER ORGANIZATIONS AND SUPPORT GROUPS THROUGH THE TRANSGENDER LEADERSHIP COALITION (TLC); AND, CREATING INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS BY ENGAGING WITH FAMILIES AND ADVOCATES TO ENCOURAGE LOCAL SCHOOL BOARDS ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH LOOK TO ADOPT THE MODEL POLICIES FOR THE TREATMENT OF TRANSGENDER STUDENTS IN VIRGINIAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS.


THE ORGANIZATION'S ANNUAL COMMONWEALTH DINNER IS A SIGNIFICANT FUNDRAISER AND BRINGS MORE THAN 1,000 PEOPLE TOGETHER TO HONOR OUTSTANDING VIRGINIANS, CELEBRATE SUCCESSES, AND ENERGIZE SUPPORTERS AS THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO WORK FOR LGBTQ EQUALITY.
