CAMPUS PRIDE SERVES LGBTQ AND ALLY STUDENT LEADERS AND CAMPUS ORGANIZATIONS IN THE AREAS OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, SUPPORT PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO CREATE SAFER, MORE INCLUSIVE LGBTQ-FRIENDLY COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.

CAMP PRIDE: CAMPUS PRIDE SUMMER LEADERSHIP ACADEMY: NEARLY 112 STUDENT LEADERS AND 13 PEER YOUTH EDUCATORS ATTENDED CAMP PRIDE 2021 FROM 85 DIFFERENT COLLEGES (INCLUDING TWO YEAR, WOMEN'S COLLEGES, HBCUS) FROM 28 STATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THE ANNUAL CAMP IS TYPICALLY 5 DAY/4 NIGHTS; HOWEVER, DUE TO COVID-19 WE HELD THE CAMP ONLINE ON A WEEKEND IN JULY. CAMP PRIDE IS BASED IN THE SOCIAL CHANGE MODEL OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND PROVIDES INVALUABLE SOCIAL JUSTICE TOOLS TO PREPARE YOUNG ADULTS FOR ADVOCATING FOR LGBTQ EQUALITY, UNDERSTANDING AN INTER SECTIONAL IDENTITY FRAMEWORK AS WELL AS SUPPORTING GREATER ACCESS AND EQUITY IN A DIVERSE, GLOBAL SOCIETY.
STUDENT LEADER NETWORK: OVER 1400 COLLEGE CAMPUSES AND A 155,000 PLUS STUDENT LEADERS AND 3600 FACUTLY/STAFF WHO ARE SUPPORTED WITH SOCIAL JUSTICE EDUCATION, LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS, RESOURCES AND SERVICES TO CREATE SAFER, MORE INCLUSIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS FOR LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER, QUEER/QUESTIONING AND STRAIGHT ALLY STUDENTS. MUCH OF THE STUDENT LEADER NETWORK OF CAMPUS PRIDE WORKS WITHIN SOUTHERN CAMPUSES, RURAL COMMUNITIES AS WELL AS OTHER UNDER-RESOURCED CAMPUSES (TWO YEAR COLLEGES, HBCUS, RELIGIOUS CAMPUSES, ETC). MANY OF OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WENT ONLINE DUE TO COVID-19 AND AS A RESULT CREATED/ADAPTED NEW PROGRAMS.
CAMPUS PRIDE INDEX & NATIONAL COLLEGE FAIR PROGRAM : THE CAMPUS PRIDE NATIONAL COLLEGE FAIR PROGRAM IS THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND; HOWEVER, DUE TO COVID-19 WE WERE NOT ABLE TO HAVE IN PERSON COLLEGE FAIRS. FOR OVER A DECADE, THE FAIR PROGRAM HAS SUPPORTED THOUSANDS OF LGBTQ YOUTH INCLUDING FIRST GENERATION, LOW SOCIO-ECONOMIC YOUTH AND UNDER-REPRESENTED YOUTH OF COLOR AND, OR TRANS YOUTH, IN PROVIDING ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION AND TO FIND LGBTQ-FRIENDLY CAMPUSES, TESTING SERVICES AND SCHOLARSHIPS. INSTEAD WE FOCUSED ON ONLINE RESOURCES INCLUDING THE CAMPUS PRIDE INDEX (WWW.CAMPUSPRIDEINDEX.ORG) WHICH IS DESIGNED FOR ADDRESSING THE CONCERNS OF LGBTQ AND ALLY STUDENTS WHEN IT COMES TO ACADEMICS, STUDENT LIFE AND CAMPUS SAFETY. THE AWARD-WINNING CAMPUS PRIDE INDEX WAS OVERHAULED IN 2015 WITH NEW LGBTQ-FRIENDLY BENCHMARKS. THE INDEX PROVIDES A FREE DYNAMIC, ONLINE LISTING OF OVER + LGBTQ-FRIENDLY COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES AND A DETAILED SYNOPSIS OF THEIR LGBTQ POLICIES, PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES.
STUDENT LEADER NETWORK: CAMPUS PRIDE SERVES OVER 1400 COLLEGE CAMPUSES AND155,000 PLUS STUDENT LEADERS AND 3600 FACUTLY/STAFF WHO ARE SUPPORTED WITH SOCIAL JUSTICE EDUCATION, LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS, RESOURCES AND SERVICES TO CREATE SAFER, MORE INCLUSIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS FOR LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER, QUEER/QUESTIONING AND STRAIGHT ALLY STUDENTS. THE STUDENT LEADER NETWORK INCLUDES EXPENSES RELATED TO NON-SIGNATURE PROGRAMS, SERVICES AND RESOURCES THAT SUPPORT LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, CAMPUS ORGANIZING, STUDENT ACTIVISM AND ADVOCACY. THESE INCLUDE THE NEW SOCIAL JUSTICE MINI GRANTS FOR ACTIVISM, HBCU COMMISION, THE LGBTQ+ SCHOLARSHIP DATABASE, QUEER 411 BULLETIN BOARD, CAMPUS PRIDE MAP FOR STUDENT ORGANIZING, THE HBCU LGBTQ+ DATABASE, TRANS POLICY CLEARINGHOUSE, BEST OF THE BEST LIST, WORST LIST, SPEAKERS BUREAU AS WELL AS OTHER BRANDED SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND CAMPUSPRIDE.ORG RESOURCES. MUCH OF THE STUDENT LEADER NETWORK OF CAMPUS PRIDE WORKS WITHIN SOUTHERN CAMPUSES, RURAL COMMUNITIES AS WELL AS OTHER UNDER-RESOURCED CAMPUSES (INCLUDING TWO YEAR COLLEGES, HBCUS, RELIGIOUS CAMPUSES, ETC).
SAFE SPACE & STOP THE HATE TRAININGS: CAMPUS PRIDE OFFERS TWO TRAININGS STOP THE HATE BIAS & HATE CRIME PREVENTION TRAINING AND THE SAFE SPACE TRAINING FOR COLLEGE CAMPUSES. THESE ARE OFFERED IN VARIOUS FORMATS DEPENDING ON THE EDUCATIONAL GOALS. THE TRAININGS WERE MOSTLY OFFERED ONLINE IN 2021 DUE TO COVID-19 SAFETY CONCERNS; HOWEVER, THE ORGANIZATION DID CONDUCT SEVERAL TRAININGS IN-PERSON IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR. THE STOP THE HATE TRAININGS ARE FOCUSED ON PREVENTING AND COMBATING HATE ON CAMPUS AS WELL AS FOSTERING THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNITY. THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND FOR COLLEGE CAMPUSES, THE TRAIN THE TRAINER PROGRAM HAS MORE THAN 7,800 INDIVIDUALS TRAINED TO DATE IN THE UNITED STATES. THE CAMPUS PRIDE SAFE SPACE PROGRAM IS A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES TRAINING AND SIGNAGE FOR INSTITUTIONS COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING LGBTQ STUDENTS. A SAFE SPACE PROGRAM IS ONE OF THE MEASURES OF A SUPPORTIVE LGBTQ-FRIENDLY CAMPUS ON THE CAMPUS PRIDE INDEX. IN 2021, CAMPUS PRIDE TRAINED 2500+ INDIVIDUALS ONLINE IN TWO HOUR SAFE SPACE TRAININGS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
CAREER CONNECT, JOB BOARD & CAREER FAIRS: THE CAMPUS PRIDE CAREER CONNECT IS A NEW PROGRAM OFFERING EMPLOYERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP MENTOR AND DEVELOP THE LGBTQ+ TALENT OF TOMORROW. THE ONLINE TOOL IS A ONE-STOP CAREER ENGAGEMENT PORTAL, CREATING AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN EMPLOYERS AND LGBTQ+ YOUNG ADULTS. THE CAREER CONNECT HAD SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL INVESTMENT IN 2021 TO BUILD THE ONLINE RESOURCE AND IS SCHEDULED TO BE LAUNCHED IN 2022. THE CAREER FAIR PROGRAM WAS NOT ABLE TO HAPPEN THIS YEAR DUE TO COVID-19 SAFETY CONCERNS WITH IN-PERSON EVENTS.
