SHARED PROGRAM COSTS
STEWARDSHIP: CRITICAL TO UPHOLDING THE TERMS OF THE EASEMENTS, LSLT MONITORS EACH EASEMENT ANNUALLY. LSLT STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS MONITORED 135 PROPERTIES AND 1 IN-FEE PROPERTY VISITS ON 24,006 ACRES IN 2022. LSLT CONDUCTED AN ANNUAL LAND STEWARD TRAINING PROGRAM FOR 18 VIRTUAL AND 11 IN-PERSON VOLUNTEERS OVER TWO DAYS. LSLT ENGAGED VOLUNTEERS IN CONDUCTING MONITORING OF CONSERVATION EASEMENTS FOR APPROXIMATELY 170 HOURS.
LAND PROTECTION: TWO CONSERVATION EASEMENTS TOTALING 146.52 ACRES WERE SUBMITTED TO MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR REVIEW AND BOTH HAVE SETTLED IN 2023. SIX CONSERVATION EASEMENTS TOTALING 1258.208 ACRES WERE NEGOTIATED IN ADDITION TO THOSE THAT WERE SUBMITTED, AND ARE EXPECTED TO BE SUBMITTED FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL IN 2023 AND 2024. NEW INTEREST IN DONATING OR SELLING CONSERVATION EASEMENTS WAS IDENTIFIED THROUGH MEETINGS AND INTERVIEWS FROM AN ADDITIONAL 15 LANDOWNERS. A LANDOWNER OUTREACH EVENT WAS HELD ON 3/23.2022 AND REACHED 20 LANDOWNERS.
