SINCE 1998, CECIL LAND TRUST (CLT) HAS WORKED WITH THE COMMUNITY AND CONSERVATION PARTNERS TO ASSIST PROPERTY OWNERS IN PROTECTING THEIR FARM AND FOREST LANDS. CLT IS COMITTED TO RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF CONSERVING NORTHEASTERN MARYLAND'S FARMS, FORESTS, WATERS AND HISTORICAL HERITAGE NOW AND FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS THROUGH EDUCATION, OUTREACH AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS.

CECIL LAND TRUST ADMINISTERS THE STATE OF MARYLAND, DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES' RURAL LEGACY PROGRAM IN CECIL COUNTY, MARYLAND.MARYLANDS RURAL LEGACY PROGRAM PROVIDES FUNDING TO PRESERVE LARGE, CONTIGUOUS TRACTS OF LAND AND TO ENHANCE NATURAL RESOURCE, AGRICULTURAL, FORESTRY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION WHILE SUPPORTING A SUSTAINABLE LAND BASE FOR NATURAL RESOURCE BASED INDUSTRIES. THE PROGRAM CREATES PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS AND ALLOWS THOSE WHO KNOW THE LANDSCAPE BEST LAND TRUSTS AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TO DETERMINE THE BEST WAY TO PROTECT THE LANDSCAPES THAT ARE CRITICAL TO OUR ECONOMY, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY OF LIFE.
