THE MISSION OF THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR ADULT AND CONTINUING EDUCATION (AAACE) IS TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP FOR THE FIELD OF ADULT AND CONTINUING EDUCATION BY EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADULT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT; UNIFYING ADULT EDUCATORS; FOSTERING THE DEVELOPMENT AND DISSEMINATION OF THEORY, RESEARCH, INFORMATION, AND BEST PRACTICES; PROMOTING IDENTITY AND STANDARDS FOR THE PROFESSION; AND ADVOCATING RELEVANT PUBLIC POLICY AND SOCIAL CHANGE INITIATIVES.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE: THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES LEADERSHIP IN THE FIELD OF ADULT EDUCATION THROUGH ITS ANNUAL CONFERENCE. THE FOUR-DAY CONFERENCE IS USUALLY HELD IN THE FALL IN A CITY THAT IS READILY ACCESSIBLE TO BOTH THE ASSOCIATION'S MEMBERS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS AND PRACTITIONERS. IN 2021 THE CONFERENCE WAS ATTENDED BY 245 PARTICIPANTS. IT CONSISTS OF KEYNOTE SESSIONS, CONCURRENT SESSIONS, POSTER SESSIONS, AND TWO-TO-THREE PRE-OR CO CONFERENCES. THE ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE WAS HELD ON OCTOBER 5-8, 2021, IN SANDESTIN, FLORIDA.
PUBLICATIONS: THE ASSOCIATION PROMOTED THE DEVELOPMENT AND DISSEMINATION OF RESEARCH AND BEST PRACTICES TO ACADEMICIANS, PROFESSIONALS, AND PRACTITIONERS THROUGH ITS ADULT AND CONTINUING EDUCATION PUBLICATIONS. TWO QUARTERLY PUBLICATIONS, ADULT EDUCATION QUARTERLY, A PREFERRED RESEARCH JOURNAL, AND ADULT LEARNING, A PRACTITIONER-ORIENTED JOURNAL, ARE HIGHLY REGARDED WITHIN THE FIELD. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO PUBLISHES THE JOURNAL OF TRANSFORMATIVE EDUCATION, WHICH IS A PEER-REVIEWED SCHOLARLY JOURNAL FOCUSED ON ADVANCING THE UNDERSTANDING, PRACTICE, AND EXPERIENCE OF TRANSFORMATIVE EDUCATION. ALL THREE JOURNALS ARE AVAILABLE DIGITALLY TO ALL MEMBERS AS A MEMBER BENEFIT FOR NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. IN ADDITION, THE HANDBOOK OF ADULT AND CONTINUING EDUCATION IS PUBLISHED EVERY TEN YEARS AS A REFERENCE TEXT ON CURRENT RESEARCH AND BEST PRACTICES IN THE FIELD.
