THE MISSION OF BREAD FOR THE CITY IS TO HELP WASHINGTON, D.C. RESIDENTS LIVING WITH LOW INCOME TO DEVELOP THE POWER TO DETERMINE THE FUTURE OF THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES FOOD, CLOTHING, MEDICAL ARE, AND LEGAL AND SOCIAL SERVICES TO REDUCE THE BURDEN OF POVERTY. BFC SEEKS JUSTICE THROUGH COMMUNITY ORGANIZING AND PUBLIC ADVOCACY.

FOOD PROGRAM-OUR FOOD PANTRY DISTRIBUTES FOOD TO DC RESIDENTS WHO EITHER HAVE INCOMES OF 200% OR LESS OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY LINE; ELDERLY OR DISABLED; OR FAMILIES WITH DEPENDENT CHILDREN. ELIGIBLE CLIENTS MAY RECEIVE THREE DAYS WORTH OF FOOD EACH MONTH.

SOCIAL SERVICES- THE BREAD FOR THE CITY PROVIDE A WIDE RANGE OF CONSELING, REFERRAL, AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES. IT HELPS CLIENT APPLY FOR PUBLIC BENEFITS, INCLUDING SSI, FOOD STAMPS, AND HOUSING.
