Part 3 - Line 1
PROMOTE PHILANTHROPY THAT SERVES THE PUBLIC GOOD, IS ACCOUNTABLE AND BENEFITS VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
REPRODUCTIVE ACCESS AND GENDERED VIOLENCE: THIS PROGRAM AREA HAS RELEASED TWO ADDITIONAL SECTIONS OF THE ABORTION ACCESS ROADMAP WHICH FOCUS ON CENTERING TRANSGENDER AND GENDER-EXPANSIVE PEOPLE AND BRINGING ATTENTION TO CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTERS (CPCS) AS THE "GROUND TROOPS" OF THE ANTI-ABORTION MOVEMENT. THE PROGRAM ALSO WORKED ON PREPARING FOR AND THEN HELPING RESPOND TO THE OVERTURNING OF ROE VS WADE BY THE SUPREME COURT. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, TEAM MEMBERS WROTE BLOGS, SPOKE AT CONFERENCES, AND WERE FEATURED IN MAJOR PUBLICATIONS DISCUSSING THE ABORTION ACCESS ROADMAP AND NCRPS RESPONSE TO THE OVERTURNING OF ROE VS WADE.
PRO-IMMIGRANT AND -REFUGEE MOVEMENT IN OCTOBER, NCRP CO-HOSTED A FUNDER BRIEFING ABOUT BLACK-LED MIGRANT JUSTICE, WHICH WE ORGANIZED RESPONSIVELY IN COLLABORATION WITH UNBOUND PHILANTHROPY, OUR BLACK-LED NONPROFIT MEMBERS ACTIVE IN THE MOVEMENT, AND OTHER MOVEMENT ALLIES LIKE UNDOCUBLACK, BAJI, AND HAITIAN BRIDGE ALLIANCE ON THAT CALL, MOVEMENT LEADERS ISSUED A $10 MILLION CALL TO ACTION FOR THE SECTOR. SINCE THAT TIME, NCRP HAS ADVISED FOUR FREEDOMS FUND (FFF) AND SEVERAL OF THOSE MOVEMENT ALLIES IN THE CREATION OF A MOVEMENT-LED FUND AT FFF CENTERING BLACK MIGRANT JUSTICE, AS WELL AS A LAUNCH CAMPAIGN IN LATE WINTER THAT FFF HOLDS AND NCRP WILL HELP AMPLIFY. IN MAY, NCRP JOINED A DOZEN BLACK-LED MIGRANT JUSTICE GROUPS IN A DAY OF ACTION ENCOURAGING PHILANTHROPY TO INVEST IN BLACK-CENTERED WORK IN THE MOVEMENT. IN "BLACK MIGRANT JUSTICE GROUPS DESERVE MORE THAN A DROP IN THE BUCKET," WE POINTED OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT BLACK MIGRANT JUSTICE GROUPS RECEIVE JUST 1.4% OF ALL FUNDING FOR THE PRO-IMMIGRANT, PRO-REFUGEE MOVEMENT; 0.4% OF ALL FUNDING EXPLICITLY FOR BLACK COMMUNITIES; AND LESS THAN 0.01% OF ALL FOUNDATION GRANTS.
POWER MOVES IN FY22 HUNDREDS OF FOUNDATIONS USED NCRP POWER MOVES TOOLKIT TO HELP THEM IMPROVE THEIR STRATEGY AND OPS. THE TOOL HELPS FUNDERS UNDERSTAND HOW WELL THEY SHARE, BUILD AND WIELD POWER. THE SCORECARD PROJECT TEAM CONDUCTED A LANDSCAPE ANALYSIS OF OTHER REPORTS ON FUNDER BEHAVIORS, WORKSHOPPING VARIOUS ASSESSMENT QUESTIONS DRAWN FROM THE POWER MOVES TOOLKIT, AND WE CONCLUDED THAT MOVING FORWARD WITH THE SCORECARD PROJECT MAKES SENSE FOR NCRP BECAUSE IT FULFILLS A NEED IN THE SECTOR FOR A PUBLIC FUNDER ASSESSMENT TOOL BASED ON SHIFTING POWER, AND CAN BE USED AS AN ACCOUNTABILITY TOOL TO FURTHER THE WORK OF THE MOVEMENT AND MEMBERSHIP PROGRAMS.
