THE ORGANIZATION'S PURPOSE IS TO AID THE PUBLIC PURPOSES OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE THROUGH SOLICITATION AND RECEIPT OF CONTRIBUTIONS OF FINANCIAL, TECHNICAL, PROFESSIONAL, CULTURAL AND OTHER RESOURCES, PROPERTY AND ART, FOR USE IN THE CONTINUOUS MAINTENANCE, PRESERVATION, RESTORATION, AND ENHANCEMENT OF THE GOVERNOR'S HOUSE, KNOWN AS WOODBURN, THE GOVERNOR'S GUEST HOUSE, KNOWN AS HALL HOUSE, AND THE SURROUNDING GROUNDS, IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE, IN DOVER, DELAWARE; AND TO ENCOURAGE, THROUGH EDUCATION, THE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE HISTORIC AND CIVIC IMPORTANCE OF WOODBURN AND HALL HOUSE.

TO PROMOTE AWARENESS OF THE OBJECTIVES AND NEEDS OF THE FRIENDS OF WOODBURN AND RAISE FUNDS NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN THE HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS. THE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC THROUGH OUT THE YEAR FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS AND SCHEDULED TOURS. DURING EACH YEAR OF 2015 & 2016, WOODBURN HOSTED APPROXIMATELY 140 FUNCTIONS WITH AN AVERAGE OF 35 GUESTS PER FUNCTION; 5 SENIOR CENTER VISITS; 10 OUT-OF-STATE TOUR GROUPS; 10 SCHOOL VISITS; AND 11 OPEN HOUSES WITH AN AVERAGE OF 75 GUESTS PER OPEN HOUSE. ADDITIONALLY, IN 2016 THE ORGANIZATION DONATED 1,000 TO THE BOYS & CLUBS OF DELAWARE.
