PROVIDE AND FACILITATE PUBLIC AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION FOR THE DIAGNOSIS, PREVENTION, AND MANAGEMENT OF DIABETES, PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR THOSE WITH DIABETES AND AT RISK FOR DIABETES. WE CONTINUE TO PROVIDE CLINICAL CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH DIABETES AND OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IF INDIVIDUALS ARE UNABLE TO PAY FOR SERVICES. WE FACILITATE ACCESS TO PATIENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS FOR MEDICATIONS AS NEEDED AND PROVIDE CLINICAL CARE FOR OVER 1000 INDIVIDUALS WITH DIABETES PER YEAR INCLUDING TELEMEDICINE SERVICES. WE HOSTED, FOR THE FIRST TIME, A DAY CAMP FOR CHILDREN WITH DIABETES AGES KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 4TH GRADE AND HAD 24 CHILDREN ATTEND THE 4 DAY CAMP WITH THE SUPPORT OF VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF. WE ALSO HOSTED AN OUTDOOR EVENT IN JUNE, PROMOTING WALKING AND BIKING AS WELL AS DISTRIBUTING DIABETES INFORMATION. WE BROUGHT BACK OUR "LIVE" LIVE WELL WITH DIABETES EVENT IN NOVEMBER AND IT WAS HELD AT THE WICHITA STATE METROPLEX. THE PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM ON FRIDAY THE 5TH WAS OFFERED VIRTUALLY, AS WELL AS, "LIVE IN PERSON." WE HAD A NATIONAL SPEAKER JOIN US VIA THE INTERNET, WILLIAM POLONSKY, PHD IN ADDITION TO OTHER SPEAKERS INCLUDING A PANEL DISCUSSION ON THE USE OF GLP1 IN THE MANAGEMENT OF DIABETES. WE CONTINUE TO OFFER BI-WEEKLY DIABETES EDUCATION CLASSES FOR PEOPLE WITH DIABETES AND PREDIABETES.
TO PROVIDE CLINICAL SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DIABETES AND THOSE AT RISK FOR DIABETES. GREAT PLAINS DIABETES CLINIC OPENED IN 2014. CLINICAL SERVICES ARE BEING OFFERED VIA TELEHEALTH IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FREESTATE HEALTH CARE. EDUCATION IS BEING SHARED VIA SHARED MEDICAL VISITS TWICE A MONTH ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS.
