THE SOUTHWEST NATIONAL PRIMATE RESEARCH CENTER PROVIDES ANIMALS THAT SERVE AS RESOURCES TO THE RESEARCH OF TEXAS BIOMED AND OTHER NATIONAL INSTITUTES. IT ALSO CARRIES OUT RESEARCH ITSELF IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ANIMALS AS A RESEARCH TOOL IN HUMAN DISEASES.
TEXAS BIOMED PERFORMS RESEARCH ON INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND ASSOCIATED CHRONIC CONDITIONS THAT INCREASE SUSCEPTIBILITY TO INFECTION. THESE INCLUDE BASIC RESEARCH OF HOST AND PATHOGEN BIOLOGY, GENETICS, IMMUNOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY.
