DURING FY21, ARKANSAS CHILDREN'S RESEARCH INSTITUTE (ACRI) RECEIVED NEW AWARDS FROM THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH (NIH) INCLUDING $2.1 MILLION TO CONTINUE AS A MEMBER OF A PEDIATRIC CLINICAL TRIAL NETWORK THAT PROVIDES CHILDREN IN MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED OR RURAL AREAS ACCESS TO CLINICAL STUDIES ON ENVIRONMENTAL INFLUENCES ON EARLY DEVELOPMENT AND $550,000 FOR VERIFYING A GENETIC TARGET FOR POTENTIAL TREATMENTS THAT REDUCE LIFE-THREATENING ASTHMA ATTACKS IN CHILDREN. ACRI WAS ALSO ABLE TO RECRUIT 3 NEW RESEARCH SCIENTISTS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, ONE OF WHICH IS LEADING THE USDA-SUPPORTED ARKANSAS CHILDREN'S NUTRITION CENTER. ACRI PROVIDED THE RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE TO OVER 120 RESEARCHERS WHO PUBLISHED THEIR SCIENTIFIC FINDINGS IN OVER 270 PEER-REVIEWED SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL ARTICLES, OF WHICH 30.6% OF THE PUBLICATIONS APPEARED IN THE TOP 10% RANKING JOURNALS.
