THE DODGE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY/MAY MUSEUM IS THE PRIMARY INSTITUTION WITH RESPONSIBILITY TO COLLECT, PRESERVE, RESEARCH AND INTERPRET OBJECTS, ARTIFACTS, DOCUMENTS, PUBLISHED MATERIALS AND SITES RELATING TO DODGE COUNTY, NEB'S HERITAGE AND ITS CULTURAL AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT. IT ENCOURAGES PUBLIC INTEREST AND PARTICIPATION IN ITS ACTIVITIES THROUGH SPECIAL PURPOSE PROGRAMS, PUBLICATIONS, AND DISTRIBUTION OF INFORMATION VIA THE NEWS MEDIA. THE SOCIETY/MUSEUM WILL PROVIDE INTERPRETIVE, RESEARCH AND PRESERVATION ASSISTANCE TO OTHER INSTITUTIONS AND INDIVIDUALS TO THE EXTENT ITS RESOURCES WILL ALLOW. AFTER BEING CLOSED OVER 15 MONTHS DUE THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE MUSEUM REOPENED JUNE 9, 2021 AND VOLUNTEERS AND BOARD MEMBERS ARE WORKING TO INCREASE VISITORS AND ACTIVITIES FOR THE MUSEUM.

PERMANENT AND VISITING EXHIBITS AND EVENTS ARE USED TO PROMOTE THE HISTORY OF DODGE COUNTY, NEBRASKA. AFTER BEING CLOSED 15 MONTHS DUE THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE MUSEUM REOPENED JUNE 9, 2021. THE BOARD MEMBERS AND VOLUNTEERS ARE WORKING TO INCREASE THE INTEREST IN THE HISTORY OF THE FREMONT AREA.MEMBERSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE TO INTERESTED PARTIES. WITH THEIR ANNUAL OR LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP DUES, THEY RECEIVE PERIODIC NEWSLETTERS, FREE ADMISSION TO THE MUSEUM AND HAVE ACCESS TO RESEARCH TOOLS THAT ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SOCIETY. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 250 MEMBERS.
