Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

CRISIS INTERVENTION - CHANCE SHELTER CONTINUES TO BE A RESOURCE FOR OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH PARTNERS. WE HAVE ALLIANCES WITH HOSPITAL SOCIAL WORKERS, CARE FACILITIES, FUNERAL HOMES, FIRST RESPONDERS, AND THE CITY OF SURPRISE HUMAN SERVICES AND VITALITY. WE SERVICE PETS WHOS OWNERS ARE FACING A CRISIS SITUATION, BY OFFERING SHORT AND LONG TERM FOSTERING AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. CHANCE SHELTER HAS A STRONG ADOPTION PROGRAM FOR THE PETS THAT ARE UNABLE TO REUNITE WITH OWNERS OR THAT HAVE BEEN SURRENDER, THROUGH OUR REFERRAL PROCESS, DUE TO A CRISIS SITUATION. WE CONDUCT HOME EVALUATIONS FOR EACH POTENTIAL ADOPTER TO ENSURE THAT THE PET AND ADOPTER ARE A GOOD FIT FOR ONE ANOTHER. WE CONTINUE OUR ALLIANCES WITH MID-WESTERN UNIVERSITY AND HAVE NOW ADDED WEST-MEC TO HELP US KEEP VETERINARY COSTS DOWN.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH & VOLUNTEER PROGRAM - CHANCE SHELTER PROVIDES PET SUPPLIES, BASIC VETERINARIAN ASSISTANCE (SPAY/NEUTER, VACCINATIONS) FOR LOW INCOME, UNHOUSED AND AT RISK COMMUNITY MEMBERS. WE DO THIS THROUGH OUR ALLIANCE WITH OUR CITIES HUMAN SERVICES AND VITALITY RESOURCE CENTER WHERE WE ARE LOCATED EVERY MONDAY AND FRIDAY. CHANCE SHELTER PARTICIPATES IN MANY OF OUR CITY AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES HOMELESS OUTREACH & VETERAN EVENTS, INCLUDING PROJECT CONNECT, HOPE, AND CITY OF SURPRISE VET FEST. WE ACTIVELY ADVOCATE FOR PETS THROUGH RAISING COMMUNITY AWARENESS, AT THESE AND MANY OTHER EVENTS, INCLUDING STARTING UP OUR YOUTH PET SAFETY AND AWARENESS PRESENTATIONS AGAIN WHICH WILL BE OFFERED AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS WITHIN OUR CITY. OUR FOSTER AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAM REMAIN STRONG, WITH QUARTERLY VOLUNTEER MEETINGS, PET CPR CLASSES AND MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO ATTEND EVENTS TO ADVOCATE FOR PETS.
