Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
TO PROMOTE AND IMPLEMENT INNOVATIVE AND EFFECTIVE PROGRAMS THAT HAVE SIGNIFICANT AND MEASURABLE BENEFIT FOR ANIMALS AND PEOPLE.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
PRIOR TO SEPTEMBER 13, 2021 PRIMARY PROGRAM IS ADOPT-A-PET.COM WEBSITE WHICH IS THE WORLD'S LARGEST NON-PROFIT HOMELESS PET ADOPTION WEBSITE, NOW LISTING OVER 17,000 ANIMAL SHELTERS, SPCAS, HUMANE SOCIETIES, AND RESCUE GROUPS, AND DISPLAYING APPROXIMATELY 250,000 PETS FOR ADOPTION. THE WEBSITE IS NOW USED BY MORE THAN 4.5 MILLION UNIQUE VISITORS AND SENDS OUT OVER 15 MILLION ADOPTABLE PET EMAILS TO POTENTIAL ADOPTERS EACH MONTH. ADDITIONALLY, ADOPT-A-PET.COM POWERS PET SEARCHES ON OTHER WEBSITES AS WELL THAT REACH EVEN MORE PEOPLE, AND THE ORGANIZATION AT TIMES ALSO RUNS BILLBOARD AND OTHER PUBLIC CAMPAIGNS AROUND THE COUNTRY TO PROMOTE PET ADOPTION. THOUSANDS OF ANIMAL SHELTERS REPORT ADOPT-A-PET.COM AS AN INVALUABLE TOOL FOR INCREASING THEIR ADOPTIONS. CONNECTED TO THE ADOPT-A-PET.COM WEBSITE IS A NEW SERVICE, FUNDED BY PETCO FOUNDATION, CALLED "REHOME". REHOME ALLOWS INDIVIDUALS WHO FEEL THEY CAN NO LONGER KEEP THEIR PET TO ACCESS INFORMATION THAT MIGHT HELP THEM KEEP THEIR PET, AND IF NOT, GIVES THEM A WAY TO POST THEIR PET ONTO OUR WEBSITE TO SAFELY FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR PET WITHOUT THEIR PET EVER ENTERING A SHELTER. THIS PUTS LESS STRESS ON SHELTERS, CREATES LESS STRESS AND CHANCE FOR DISEASE FOR PETS THEMSELVES, AND ALLOWS ADOPTERS TO GET MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE PET FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER. ADOPTERS WHO USE THE SYSTEM PAY AN ADOPTION FEE BUT THAT DOES NOT GO TO THE PREVIOUS PET OWNER. THE FEE GOES TO A SHELTER OR RESCUE WHO REFERRED THE PREVIOUS OWNER INTO THE SYSTEM, OR WHERE NO REFERRAL OCCURRED, THE FEE IS HELD BY ADOPT-A-PET.COM AND USED TO SUPPORT AND ENHANCE THE REHOME SERVICE.
AFTER SEPTEMBER 13, 2021 THE PRIMARY PROGRAM IS FOOD SYSTEM INNOVATIONS WHICH IS DEDICATED TO CREATING A MORE SUSTAINABLE, HUMANE, AND EQUITABLE GLOBAL FOOD SYSTEM.
