NSVSAC WILL COLLABORATE WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO TAKE THE LEAD IN IDENTIFYING AND DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE RESOURCES TO ENSURE THE NECESSARY CONTINUUM OF CARE FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND ADDICTION SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OVERDOSE INTERVENTION PROGRAM (LEOIP) SERVED 20 INDIVIDUALS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING 06/30/22 WITH 7 CLIENTS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE PROGRAM. THE CLIENTS RECEIVED OUTPATIENT TREATMENT, INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, CASE MANAGEMENT AND PEER SERVICES. THE PROGRAM RECEIVES REFERRALS FROM DISTRICT 11 PROBATION AND PAROLE. THE LEOIP CLIENTS VOLUNTEER WEEKLY AT THE WINCHESTER RESCUE MISSION WHERE THEY PREPARE AND SERVE LUNCH FOR HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS. ON WEDNESDAYS THE CLIENTS PARTICIPATE IN "WELLNESS WEDNESDAY" ACTIVITIES WHICH INCLUDE ART THERAPY, EQUINE THERAPY, WALKING THERAPY, AND MUSIC THERAPY. PARTICIPANTS ENGAGED IN A HEPATITIS C INFORMATIVE PRESENTATION AS WELL AS NARCAN TRAININGS.


THE NORTHWEST REGIONAL ADULT DRUG TREATMENT COURT SERVED 29 INDIVIDUALS IN THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING 06/30/22 WITH 11 NEW CLIENTS ENTERING THE PROGRAM AND 7 CLIENTS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE PROGRAM. PARTICIPANTS RECEIVED OUTPATIENT TREATMENT, INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, CASE MANAGEMENT AND PEER SERVICES. THIRTEEN MEMBERS OF THE DRUG TREATMENT COURT TEAM ATTENDED THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DRUG COURT PROFESSIONALS (NADCP) ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON DC., AND THE DRUG COURT COORDINATOR WAS CHOSEN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOP OF VIRGINIA REGIONAL CHAMBER COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM.


THE COMMUNITY-BASED ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT FOR ADOLESCENTS & FAMILIES TO LAUNCH INTERVENTIONS FOR SUBSTANCES AND TRAUMA (CATALIST) PROGRAM WAS INITIATED IN JANUARY 2022. THE PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED TO PROMOTE INTENTIONAL BEHAVIORAL AND CULTURAL CHANGES TO ADOLESCENTS, AGES 12 TO 17 YEARS OLD, AND THEIR PRIMARY CAREGIVERS. A PROGRAM COORDINATOR WAS HIRED IN JANUARY AND HAS RECEIVED REFERRALS FROM THE WINCHESTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS, THE COURT SERVICES UNIT, AND THE WINCHESTER MEDICAL CENTER. THE GOALS OF THE PROGRAM ARE: 1. HELP YOUTH AND THEIR CAREGIVERS UNDERSTAND THEIR RISK LEVELS FOR SUBSTANCE USE, MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS, AND TRAUMA. 2. OFFER EARLY INTERVENTIONS FOR SUBSTANCE MISUSE OR MENTAL HEALTH OR TRAUMA SYMPTOMS. 3. PROVIDE EFFECTIVE TREATMENT, RECOVERY, AND SUPPORT SERVICES FOR YOUTH AND THEIR CAREGIVERS.


NSVSAC CONTINUED THE GIVE ME A REASON DRUG PREVENTION INITIATIVE PROGRAM. LOCAL JUVENILE AND DOMESTIC RELATIONS COURT JUDGES CONTINUE TO UTILIZE THE SCREENS BY TESTING JUVENILES WHO ARE INVOLVED IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM. THE JUDGES ALSO PROVIDE THE KITS TO PARENTS OF THE YOUTH. NSVSAC PROVIDED SEVERAL COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS INCLUDING NARCAN TRAINING TO GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS THROUGHOUT THE REGION, ORGANIZING AND LEADING THE REGIONAL PREVENTION BOOK CLUB EACH QUARTER, AND ORGANIZING AND HOSTING THE INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY EVENT.
