REHABILITATION AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES HAVE BEEN PROVIDED TO VETERANS OF WARS. USE OF EQUINE THERAPY IS UTILIZED TO BRING COMFORT AND COMPANIONSHIP TO VETERANS SUFFERING FROM A DIVERSE RANGE OF DISADVANTAGES AND DISABILITIES. THE RANCH HOSTED 76 VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES AT THE FACILITY DURING 2021, WITH OVER 57 OVERNIGHT STAYS. THE RANCH HAS ALSO HIRED COMBAT VETERAN JUSTIN MARTINEZ AS RANCH MANAGER, WHO CREDITS DOWN THE STRETCH RANCH WITH GIVING HIS LIFE MEANINGFUL PURPOSE.
SANCTUARY FOR RETIRED THOROUGHBRED RACE HORSES THAT ARE NO LONGER USEFUL IN THE RACING INDUSTRY. THE FACILITIES WERE HOME TO AN AVERAGE HERD SIZE OF 28 RETIRED THOROUGHBRED HORSES THROUGHOUT 2021. THE RANCH WAS ALSO SUCCESSFUL IN ADOPTING OUT 17 HORSES TO PERMANENT HOMES, ALLOWING THE RANCH TO BRING IN NEWLY RETIRED HORSES FOR REHABILITATION.
PROVIDED DAY OUTINGS FOR MILITARY CHILDREN OF CURRENT SERVICE MEMBERS FROM FAIRCHILD AIRFORCE BASE IN AIRWAY HEIGHTS, WA, AS WELL AS CHILDREN FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC AFFLICTED BY ANXIETY DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. EACH CHILD WAS INSTRUCTED ON HORSERIDING AND GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT AND RIDE RETIRED THOROUGHBRED HORSES.
