Part 3 - Line 4a
THE CORALVILLE COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY IS AN ANTI-HUNGER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION PROVIDING CRITICAL AND INNOVATIVE FOOD ASSISTANCE SERVICES TO THE GREATER CORALVILLE COMMUNITY. WE BELIEVE THAT FOOD IS A HUMAN-RIGHT AND THAT FOOD HAS THE POWER TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER. OUR VISION IS TO BUILD A STRONGER, HEALTHIER, AND HUNGER-FREE CORALVILLE COMMUNITY. OUR PRIMARY WORK IS OUR FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES WEEKLY GROCERIES & PERSONAL CARE ITEMS FOR THOUSANDS OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS EACH YEAR. IN RESPONSE TO COVID, WE ADAPTED THIS PROGRAM TO OFFER CONTACTLESS DRIVE-THRU, WALK UP, AND HOME DELIVERY OPTIONS. OUR HOME DELIVERY OPTION, WHICH PROVIDES 75+ DELIVERIES A WEEK, HAS BEEN A CRITICAL LIFELINE FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD TO LEAVE HOME FOR REASONS RELATED TO HEALTH, MOBILITY, OR EMOTIONAL STRESS. IN 2021, WE PROVIDED 643,767 POUNDS OF FOOD TO 1,201 HOUSEHOLDS. IN OUR 13 YEARS OF EXISTENCE, WE HAVE PROVIDED 4.5 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD TO MORE THAN 10,000 NEIGHBORS THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. OUR OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDE: SCHOOL BREAK NUTRITION, WHICH PROVIDES VITAL GROCERIES TO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN WHEN SCHOOL IS NOT IN SESSION; FREE COMMUNITY MEALS, WHICH BRINGS COMMUNITY MEMBERS FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE TOGETHER TO FREELY ENJOY A HOME-COOKED MEAL AND CONVERSATION; THE SEED LIBRARY, WHICH EMPOWERS OUR NEIGHBORS TO GROW AND EAT HEALTHY FOOD; AND VEGGIE RX, WHICH CONNECTS INDIVIDUALS WITH DIET-RELATED DISEASES TO LOCALLY GROWN FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. WE RELY HEAVILY ON IN-KIND SUPPORT, IN THE FORM OF FOOD AND VOLUNTEERISM, TO FULFILL OUR MISSION OF PROVIDING HOPE AND NOURISHMENT FOR THE COMMUNITY.
