BEYOND HUNGER WAS FOUNDED IN 1978 TO PROVIDE DIRECT HUNGER RELIEF SERVICES AND HARNESS THE POWER OF COMMUNITIES TO END HUNGER THROUGH COLLECTIVE IMPACT. THE ORGANIZATION SERVES THE OAK PARK AREA AND NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES.

BEYOND HUNGER WORKS TO END HUNGER THROUGH DISTRIBUTING FOOD TO THOSE IN IMMEDIATE NEED WHILE WORKING TOWARDS MORE PERMANENT FOOD SECURITY THROUGH COMMUNITY ACTION AND POLICY CHANGE. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022, BEYOND HUNGER DISTRIBUTED OVER 1.25 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD OR THE EQUIVALENT OF 1.06 MILLION MEALS. FOOD PANTRY AND HOME DELIVERY PROGRAMS BOTH EXPANDED TO MEET INCREASED NEED. OUR POP-UP FOOD PANTRY "DESPENSA" CONTINUED TO SERVE THE IMMIGRANT POPULATION WITH CULTURALLY FAMILIAR FOODS. SUMMER MEALS PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN RELAUNCHED IN PERSON, AND WE PARTNERED WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS IN OAK PARK TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL 4000 MEALS.
