THE ORGANIZATION'S METHOD OF CONNECTING WITH THE HOMELESS COMMUNITY IS TO CREATE A FRIENDSHIP. THE ORGANIZATION GOES INTO VARIOUS NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE OVER 1000 HOMELESS PEOPLE LIVE. THE ORGANIZATION HOSTS BIRTHDAY PARTIES AND FUNERALS, TAKES PEOPLE TO THE DOCTOR, HELPS PEOPLE GET INTO ADDICTION RECOVERY PROGRAMS, HELPS PEOPLE GET IDENTIFICATION, AMONG OTHER THINGS.
ADVOCACY IS THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY PROGRAM OF SUPPORTING THE CHRONICALLY HOMELESS THROUGH FRIENDSHIP AND ADVOCACY. THE HUMAN IMPACT TEAM OF ADVOCATES BEFRIEND AND BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE UNHOUSED, HELP GUIDE AND CONNECT THEM TO RESOURCES, PROVIDE LIFE PLANS AND PATH PLANS, AND HELP SUPPORT THEM WITH ACCOUNTABILITY.
THE HUMAN IMPACT ASSISTED IN HOUSING 3 PEOPLE THIS YEAR, PLACED 32 HOMELESS FRIENDS IN HOTELS DURING THE UNPRECEDENTED WINTER STORM, AND WORKED ON DEVELOPING SOME INNOVATIVE COMMUNITY-BASED HOUSING SOLUTIONS.
THE HUMAN IMPACT HELD A FEET WASHING EVENT, IN WHICH WE WASHED FEET AND PASSED OUT NEW SOCKS AND GENTLY-WORN TENNIS SHOES. THE HUMAN IMPACT HELD MEET THE NEED CAMPAIGNS. THIS MONEY WAS USED AS GIFTS FOR MUCH NEEDED ITEMS TO THE CURRENTLY AND FORMERLY HOMELESS. THE HUMAN IMPACT HELD TWO GATHERINGS, AT THANKSGIVING AND VALENTINE'S DAY, IN HOMES. THE HOMELESS, FORMERLY HOMELESS, AND NEVER HOMELESS CAME TOGETHER TO SHARE A MEAL, FELLOWSHIP, AND FRIENDSHIP.
