CHERP'S MISSION IS IS TO EXTEND THE REACH OF RENEWABLE ENERGY TO ECONOMICALLY DISINVESTED AND ENVIRONMENTALLY BURDENED COMMUNITIES. WE'RE DEDICATED TO CREATING GREEN-SECTOR JOBS AND PROVIDING JOB TRAINING PARTICULARLY FOR THOSE WITH BARRIERS TO ENTRY IN THE WORKFORCE STIMULATE LOCAL ECONOMIES, PURSUE ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE, AND ACHIEVE GREENHOUSE GAS REDUCTIONS.THROUGH A LICENSING AGREEMENT WITH IDEALPV LLC, WE WILL SOON BE PRODUCING THE WORLD'S MOST ADVANCED SOLAR PANELS, IN A NON-PROFIT ASSEMBLY FACTORY IN POMONA, CALIFORNIA. THE COMMUNITY HOME ENERGY REVOLUTION PROJECT (CHERP) IS A NON- PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT WAS CREATED TO ELIMINATE THE BARRIERS TO SUCCESS OF OUR CRITICAL, NATIONAL, ENERGY EFFICIENCY GOALS. CHERP IS ENGAGED IN A COMPREHENSIVE, REPLICABLE, COMMUNITY-WIDE PROGRAM TO HELP ACHIEVE AGGRESSIVE GOALS FOR IMPROVED ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND ENERGY RESILIENCY. THIS PROGRAM IS AN UNPRECEDENTED COMMUNITY-BASED, NATION-WIDE EFFORT BY PRACTICING THE MOTTO OF "RADICAL INCLUSION AND UNITING AS MANY HOMEOWNERS, BUSINESSES, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, AND CITY GOVERNMENTS AS POSSIBLE IN THE LASER-SHARP GOAL OF BRINGING THE VALUE CHAIN OF ENERGY BACK INTO THE HANDS OF LOCAL COMMUNITIES. WITHIN THIS PROGRAM, OUR FOCUS AREAS WERE: 1) GETTING OUR MODULES READY FOR SUBMISSION TO THE ELECTRICAL TESTING LAB FOR UL CERTIFICATION; 2) WORKING WITH, AND PREPARING EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR OVER 15 GROUPS IN CITIES ACROSS THE NATION WHO ARE INTERESTED IN BRINGING A NONPROFIT SOLAR MICROFACTORY TO THEIR COMMUNITY; 3) PROVIDING SERVICE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES TO OVER 25 CAL POLY POMONA STUDENTS; 4) PROVIDING OVER 15 TOURS TO GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING TWO TOURS TO HIGH-SCHOOL CLASSES; AND 4) COLLABORATING WITH MISSION-ALIGNED ORGANIZATIONS ON GRANTS, SUCH AS POMONA'S TRANSFORMATIONAL CLIMATE COMMUNITIES PLANNING GRANT.
