MAINTAINED AND IMPROVED ONLINE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LMS) AND REGISTRATION SYSTEM (GENIUS), INCLUDING UPDATING COURSE CONTENT AND ASSESSMENTS, ADDING INTERACTIVE TOOLS/PROJECTS, AND DEVELOPING UNIQUE COURSE OPTIONS BASED ON SCHOOL/SCHOOL DISTRICT'S NEEDS. ACTIVITIES INCLUDED: (1) TEACHING AND SUPPORTING OVER 250 COURSES; (2) UPDATING COURSES AND ADDING COURSES AS NEEDED; (3) INCREASING SUPPORT STRUCTURES FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS (SUCH AS TEXT HELP); AND (4) DEVELOPING ADDITIONAL LEARNING AND SUPPORT RESOURCES FOR SITE COORDINATORS, PARENTS, AND STUDENTS. THIS PROGRAM SERVICE AREA REPRESENTS THE 'TYPICAL' UPGRADES IN THE ONLINE LEARNING SYSTEM. DURING THE 2021-2022 YEAR, CDLS SUPPORTED 11,877 STUDENT ENROLLMENTS WHICH REPRESENTS A 53.7% DECREASE FROM 2020-2021 COVID YEAR. HOWEVER, IT ALSO REPRESENTS A 173% INCREASE FROM 2019-2020, A PRE-COVID YEAR.
PILOT AND IMPLEMENT NEW COURSES, MODIFIED LEARNING MODELS BASED ON LESSONS LEARNED, AND BUILD NEW LEARNING MODELS TO SUPPORT TEACHER SHORTAGES. LIMITED NEW STRUCTURES AND COURSES WERE DEVELOPED THIS FISCAL YEAR DUE TO THE NEED TO ASSESS PERFORMANCE DURING THE LARGE INCREASE IN STUDENT ENROLLMENTS LAST YEAR DUE TO COVID. NEW STRUCTURES OR COURSES DEVELOPED INCLUDED: (1) CODING AND ROBOTICS COURSES, INCLUDING AN OFF-SITE ROBOT THAT CAN BE CODED ONLINE; (2) NEW GIFTED AND TALENTED SHORT COURSES; (3) NEW ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES; AND (4) CO-TEACHING COURSE STRUCTURES TO SUPPORT TEACHER SHORTAGES. BASED ON OUR COVID EXPERIENCES, WE RESTRUCTURED ELEMENTARY COURSEWORK AND SUPPORT STRUCTURES AND UPDATED CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION PATHWAYS.
