OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE (1) TRANSFERABLE SKILL TRAINING AND LIVING WAGE JOBS FOR PEOPLE WITH BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT, AND (2) QUALITY AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOW-TO MODERATE-INCOME FAMILIES, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON HOME OWNERSHIP.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
JOB SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM: DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO CONDUCT OUR IN-PERSON JOB SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM: DUE TO THE ECONOMIC DOWNTOWN AND EXTENSIVE JOB LOSSES CAUSED BY COVID-19, OUR TARGETED POPULATION OF AFFORDABLE HOME PURCHASERS WERE NOT BUYING HOUSES; THEY WERE SCRAMBLING TO NOT BECOME HOMELESS, TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES, AND PAY THEIR BILLS. THEY COULD NOT QUALIFY FOR MORTGAGES WITHOUT JOBS. ONE HOME WAS SOLD BEFORE THE COVID OUTBREAK SPREAD TO OREGON.
COVID RELIEF PROGRAM: NUHECDC STARTED THE COVID RELIEF DIAPER DRIVE PROGRAM, TO PROVIDE FREE DIAPERS AND BABY SUPPLIES TO FAMILIES NEGATIVELY IMPACTED BY COVID-19. MORE THAN 1,500 DIAPERS AND BABY SUPPLIES WERE DONATED TO FAMILIES IN MULTNOMAH AND CLACKAMAS COUNTIES.
