THE MISSION OF HEALTH EQUITY SOLUTIONS IS TO REDUCE AND EVENTUALLY ELIMINATE RACIAL AND ETHNIC HEALTH DISPARITIES IN CONNECTICUT BY PROMOTING AND IMPROVING ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE FOR PERSONS OF ANY AGE, GENDER, DISABILITY, RACE, ETHNICITY, INCOME, OR OTHER CLASS PROTECTED BY LAW.

HES OFFERS EDUCATIONAL TRAININGS TO BUILD AWARENESS ON AND PROMOTE THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALTH EQUITY IN THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT. WE HAVE 4 DEDICATED TRAINING MODULES: HEALTH EQUITY THE BASICS, SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH, ADVOCACY THE BASICS, AND ASSET BASED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. AFTER PARTICIPATING IN THE HEALTH EQUITY-THE BASICS AND SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH TRAININGS, PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO DEFINE HEALTH EQUITY AND DISCUSS HOW IT IMPACTS THE BASIC STANDARDS OF LIVING. THE ADVOCACY BASICS TRAINING EXPLAINS WHAT IS MEANS TO BE AN ADVOCATE AND PROMOTES THE IMPORTANCE OF ADVOCACY, AND THE VARIOUS WAYS IN WHICH COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAN PARTICIPATE. FINALLY, THE ASSET BASED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TRAINING EXAMINES WHAT CURRENT ASSETS ARE AVAILABLE TO A COMMUNITY AND IDENTIFIES POTENTIAL GAPS AND DEVISES INITIAL STRATEGIES TO ADDRESS THE GAPS. WE ALSO OFFER STORY-TELLING FOR ADVOCACY WORKSHOPS AND A HOST OF EXPERT DRIVEN WORKSHOPS, TRAINING, AND LECTURES RELATED TO HEALTH EQUITY, SOCIAL JUSTICE AND ADVOCACY. EACH TRAINING MODULE VARIES IN LENGTH AND CAN BE ADAPTED TO FIT TIMEFRAMES FROM 30-120 MINUTES PER MODULE. ALL THE MODULES CAN BE MODIFIED TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THE ORGANIZATION, COMMUNITY, OR GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS REQUESTING OUR TRAINING.
