HEART OF HORSE SENSE EDUCATES, TRAINS & FUNDS TRAUMA-INFORMED EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY AND LEARNING FOR SURVIVORS OF TRAUMA.

IN 2021, HEART OF HORSE SENSE CONTINUED TO SUPPORT EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY AND LEARNING SERVICES FOR VETERANS, FIRST RESPONDERS, AT-RISK YOUTH, AND OTHER SURVIVORS OF TRAUMA, INCLUDING VICTIMS OF CRIME AND SURVIVORS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. FOR OUR VETERAN ACCOMPLISHMENTS, WE SUPPORTED 27 FALL IN FRIDAY GROUPS (41 HRS OF SERVICES), 3 MULTI-DAY/NIGHT RETREATS FOR 27 PARTICIPANTS IN 60 + HRS OF THERAPY, 4 VA PTSD, MST OR OTHER GROUPS FOR 32 PARTICIPANTS IN 10+ HRS OF THERAPY, AND PROVIDED MULTIPLE SESSIONS OF INDIVIDUAL THERAPY FOR 7 VETERANS. FOR OUR YOUTH, WE SUPPORTED 17 GROUPS TO 84 YOUTH FOR 52 HOURS OF SERVICES, AND ALSO PROVIDED MULTIPLE SESSIONS OF INDIVIDUAL THERAPY FOR 11 DIFFERENT YOUTH. WE ALSO SUPPORTED MORE THAN 400 HRS OF SERVICES FOR SURVIVORS OF CRIME AND VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. IN ALL WE SUPPORTED +/- 720 HRS OF THERAPY SERVICES.
IN OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS, THE VOLUNTEERS PICKED UP THE CHALLENGE TO CREATE MEANINGFUL ACTIVITIES FOR OUR YOUTH TO PARTICIPATE IN WHEN THEY AREN'T RIDING HORSES, INCLUDING PLANTING A GARDEN AND MAKING THEIR OWN DRUMS TO USE TO PARTICIPATE IN A DRUM CIRCLE AT THE FARM! WE ALSO CONTINUED TO NAVIGATE SUPPORTING VETERANS, YOUTH AND OTHERS AMID ONGOING COVID CONCERNS, WE SURVIVED THE FEDERAL GRANT REPORTING LEARNING CURVE, AND NAVIGATING RESEARCH AND DATA TRACKING SNAFUS. WE ALSO INSTALLED A NEW VOLUNTEER VETERAN LIAISON FOR HEART OF HORSE SENSE TO ENGAGE THE VETERAN COMMUNITY. WE ALSO HOSTED OUR FIRST EVENT SINCE COVID: THE MANE EVENT ON NOVEMBER 13, 2021. WE CONTINUE TO BE HONORED TO DO THIS WORK!
