LIFELINE'S PRIMARY MISSION: IMPLEMENTING LIFESAVING PROGRAMS TO END SHELTER EUTHANASIA OF HEALTHY AND TREATABLE DOGS AND CATS IN METROPOLITAN ATLANTA

LIFELINE IS THE MANAGING VENDOR OF FULTON COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES AND OVERSEES BOTH THE SHELTER AND ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES IN FULTON COUNTY, GEORGIA WITH AN EXPRESSED COMMITMENT TO IMPLEMENT A FUNDAMENTAL PHILOSPHICAL SHIFT TOWARD LIFESAVING, LIFELINE HAS LOWERED THE EUTHANASIA RATE BY OVER 90% IN FULTON COUNTY SINCE TAKING OVER IN 2013. IN 2021, LIFELINE'S SHELTER STAFF ADOPTED OUT 2,978 NEW PETS, TRANSFERRED 1,962 ANIMALS TO RESCUE GROUPS, AND RETURNED 1,007 CATS AND DOGS TO THEIR OWNERS. ADDITIONALLY, LIFELINE'S ANIMAL CONTROL TEAM RESPONDED TO NEARLY 18,000 CALLS FROM FULTON COUNTY RESIDENTS. IN 2021, LIFELINE ACHIEVED A 92% SAVE RATE FOR ALL ANIMALS ENTERING THIS OPEN-ADMISSION ANIMAL CONTROL FACILITY.
IN 2013, LIFELINE TOOK OVER MANAGEMENT OF DEKALB COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES. AS THE COUNTY'S FIRST OUTSIDE MANAGING VENDOR, LIFELINE RUNS DEKALB'S ANIMAL SHELTER WITH THE COUNTY MAINTAINING ANIMAL CONTROL ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. LIFELINE HAS SUCCESSFULLY LOWERED THE EUTHANASIA RATE BY 70%, INCREASED PET ADOPTIONS BY MORE THAN 300% AND IN 2021 SAVED 93% OF ALL ANIMALS ENTERING THE SHELTER. IN 2021, LIFELINE'S SHELTER STAFF ADOPTED OUT 3,844 PETS, TRANSFERRED 1,679 ANIMALS TO RESCUE GROUPS AND RETURNED 1,034 CATS AND DOGS TO THEIR OWNERS.
LIFELINE OPERATES TWO CLINICS THAT PROVIDE LOW-COST AND NO-COST VETERINARY SERVICES. OUR SPAY AND NEUTER CLINICS ARE VITAL TO REDUCING THE NUMBER OF UNWANTED ANIMALS ENTERING ATLANTA'S SHELTERS. OUR TWO CLINICS, ONE IN ATLANTA AND ONE IN COLLEGE PARK, GEORGIA, HAVE PERFORMED OVER 167,000 STERILIZATION SURGERIES TO DATE. IN 2021, OUR CLINICS PERFORMED 15,055 SURGERIES, MAKING LIFELINE THE LARGEST LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER RESOURCE IN THE AREA. IN LATE 2019, WE EXPANDED THE INCLUDE LOW-COST FULL-SERVICE VETERINARY CARE IN ATLANTA, WITH THE INTENT OF MAKING AFFORDABLE QUALITY VETERINARY CARE ACCESSIBLE FOR PET OWNERS. IN 2021, 8,925 PETS WERE SEEN AT OUR FULL-SERVICE CLINIC, HELPING OVER 5,000 PET FAMILIES.
LIFELINE OPERATES IT'S OWN NO-KILL SHELTER THAT ADOPTED OUT 2131 DOGS AND CATS IN 2021; LIFELINE'S COMMUNITY CAT PROGRAM (CATLANTA), THE FIRST AND LARGEST TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IN ATLANTA HAVING STERILIZED AND VACCINATED OVER 40K COMMUNITY CATS;PET FOR LIFE, AN OUT-REACH EFFORT PROVIDING FREE VACCINES AND SPAY/NEUTER ASSISTANCE TO THOUSANDS OF PETS BELONGING TO LOW-INCOME FULTON AND DEKALB, GA RESIDENTS.
