SPCA FLORIDA'S COMMUNITY PROGRAMS HELP THOUSAND OF PETS AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM. THE ORGANIZATION CARES FOR AROUND 4,200 HOMELESS ANIMALS EACH YEAR AND PROVIDED AFFORDABLE VETERINARY CARE TO AN ADDITIONAL 15,000 PETS ANNUALLY THROUGH ITS MCCLURG ANIMAL MEDICAL CENTER. LAST YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION'S ANI-MEALS PROGRAM, A COLLABORATION WITH MEALS ON WHEELS, POLK COUNTY ELDERLY SERVICES AND VISTE, DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 136,000 POUNDS OF PET FOOD TO ELDERLY AND HOMEBOUND FAMILIES. THE COMMUNITY CAT PROGRAM ADDRESSED PET OVERPOPULATION BY SPAYING OR NEUTERING ALMOST 200 STRAY CATS, PREVENTING THOUSANDS OF FUTURE HOMELESS KITTENS FROM BEING BORN. OUR MEDICAL CENTER CARED FOR 19,180 PATIENTS THROUGH OUT THE YEAR, PERFORMED 1,500 SPECIAL SURGERIES AND SPAYED OR NEUTERED 1,732 CATS AND 1,392 DOGS.
