PRODUCE TO THE PEOPLE: IN 2021, 1,030,300 POUNDS OF FRESH PRODUCE AND NUTRITIOUS FOOD WAS DISTRIBUTED TO APPROXIMATELY 88,370 PARTICIPANTS THROUGH 2 WEEKLY DRIVE-THRU MARKETS, AN IN-PERSON NEIGHBORHOOD MARKET AND OUR FOOD BOX DELIVERY SERVICE. WE EXPERIENCED A MORE THAN DOUBLE PARTICIPATION RATE THAN PRE-PANDEMIC, A REFLECTION OF INCREASED REGIONAL FOOD INSECURITY AND THE NEGATIVE ECONOMIC FALLOUT AS A RESULT OF COVID 19. WE CONTINUED TO SEE GROWTH IN OUR HOME DELIVERY PROGRAM SERVING 18,172 INDIVIDUALS THAT FACED TRANSPORTATION AND HEALTH BARRIERS. OUR UNCA EXTERNALLY VALIDATED ANNUAL SURVEY DEMONSTRATED THE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT WE HAD ON COMMUNITY FOOD SECURITY AND HEALTH AND WELLBEING. ACCORDING TO SURVEY DATA, 82% INCREASED THEIR FOOD SECURITY *IDENTIFIED BY RESPONDENTS REPORTING THAT WITHOUT BOUNTY & SOUL IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO ACCESS HEALTHY FOOD AND 98% RESPONDENTS REPORTED INCREASING THEIR CONSUMPTION OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THIS ACCESS.
FARMERS ALLIANCE: IN 2021, WE COLLABORATED WITH 46 FARM PARTNERS AND DISTRIBUTED OVER 82,000 POUNDS OF LOCALLY GROWN FOOD. A SURVEY SHOWED THAT 98% OF OUR FARM PARTNERS WERE POSITIVELY IMPACTED BY OUR PARTNERSHIP. ROOTED IN HEALTH: A WHOLE PERSON HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM INCLUDING WEEKLY CLASSES, COOKING DEMOS, RECIPES, NUTRITION INFORMATION, RESOURCES AND HEALTH COATHING. IN 2021 WE PROVIDED: 315 YOGA, EXERCISE AND HEALTH CLASSES 17600 PRINTED RECIPES AND EDUCATION MATERIALS 20,000 COOKING DEMOS 98 % REPORTED THAT BOUNTY & SOUL HAD POSITIVELY IMPACTED THEIR HEALTH & WELLBEING AND 99% REPORTED ALWAYS FEELING VALUED.
GREEN APRONS: A PROGRAM DEDICATED TO YOUTH HEALTH AND EDUCATION. IN 2021 WE SPONSORED 4,800 GREEN APRONS YOUTH ACTIVITIES HELD 4 IN-PERSON COOKING CLASSES 99%OF PARENTS AND/OR CAREGIVERS REPORTED THAT BOUNTY & SOUL SERVICES AND PROGRAMS IMPROVED THEIR CHILDREN'S HEALTH AND WELLBEING WHILE 98% REPORTED AN INCREASE IN THE CONSUMPTION OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES LATINX ENGAGEMENT: AN OUTREACH TO THE LATINX COMMUNITY WITH CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE RECIPES, COOKING DEMOS AND FOOD MARKETS. IN 2021 WE HIRED A NATIVE-SPANISH SPEAKING COORDINATOR TO EXPAND OUR ENGAGEMENT IN THE LATINX COMMUNITY.
