ADDICTION EDUCATION SOCIETY PROVIDES PUBLIC INFORMATION, ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES ON ISSUES RELATING TO SUBSTANCE ADDICTION AND ITS IMPACT ON INDIVIDUAL LIVES, FAMILIES, AND IN THE LIVES OF OUR COMMUNITIES TO ADVANCE THE KNOWLEDGE THAT ADDICTION IS A DISEASE.

PROGRAM 1: NEUROSCIENCE OF ADDICTION CURRICULUM: V.5 NEUROSCIENCE OF ADDICTION CURRICULUM IS DESIGNED TO HELP YOUTH TO UNDERSTAND THE FUNDAMENTALS OF HOW ALL ADDICTIVE DRUGS AFFECT THE PLEASURE CENTERS OF THE BRAIN, HOW THE DISEASE OF ADDICTION DEVELOPS, RISK FACTORS, WHO IS MOST LIKELY TO GET IT, AND WHY. THE CURRICULUM COVERS THE ENTIRE SPECTRUM OF THE DISEASE PROCESS. -STUDENTS RETURNED TO IN-PERSON CLASSROOM INSTRUCTIONS IN THE FALL 2021. AES STAFF MODIFIED THE SOFTWARE TO ENABLE TEACHER/STUDENT ENGAGEMENT IN THE CLASSROOM ASWELL AS INDEPENDENT WORK FROM HOME/ONLINE. TEACHERS SHARE THEIR PROGRAM VIDEO SEGMENTS WHILE THE STUDENTS ARE RESPONDING TO QUESTIONS WHICH ARE VALIDATED AND REQUIRE STUDENT INPUT. STUDENT DATA ENTERED INFORMATION IS SAVED AND DOWNLOADED AT END OF EACH SESSION TO THEIR DESKTOP FOR SUBMISSION TO FOR CLASS CREDIT TO THEIR TEACHER. INTERNET CONNECTION IS REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES. -TEACHER DASHBOARD CAPABILITIES DEVELOPED FUNCTIONALITIES INCLUDE STUDENT WAITING ROOM, LOCK AND UNLOCK STUDENT FEATURES. TEACHERS ARE ABLE TO GAUGE STUDENT PROGRESS THROUGHOUT THE PROGRAM BY VIEWING THEIR DASHBOARD AND CLASSROOM PERIOD TAUGHT. -STUDENT LANDING PAGE HIGHLIGHTS STATUS OF PROGRAM COMPLETION: IN PROGRESS AND/OR COMPLETION. -NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION PROCESS ENABLES STUDENTS TO ACCESS ALL NOA SESSION FROM ANY DEVICE USING A UNIQUE TEACHER AND STUDENT ID ASSIGNED BY TEACHERS. -TEACHER TRAINING VIDEO DEVELOPED AND DISTRIBUTED. -SOFTWARE CHANGES INCLUDE POWER POINT SLIDES, VOICE OVER INSTRUCTIONS, VIDEO SEGMENT CHANGES AND CAPTIONS. IT IS AVAILABLE AS AN ENTIRELY ONLINE-DRIVEN PLATFORM OR IN A CLASSROOM PRESENTATION SETTING WHICH ALLOWS THE TEACHER TO ENGAGE WITH STUDENTS.
