ADDICTION EDUCATION SOCIETY PROVIDES PUBLIC INFORMATION, ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES ON ISSUES RELATING TO SUBSTANCE ADDICTION AND ITS IMPACT ON INDIVIDUAL LIVES, FAMILIES, AND IN THE LIVES OF OUR COMMUNITIES TO ADVANCE THE KNOWLEDGE THAT ADDICTION IS A DISEASE.

DEVELOP VERSION 6 OF THE NEUROSCIENCE OF ADDICTION AND "HOW DID THIS HAPPEN TO ME" CURRICULUM. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE STUDENTS IN MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL WITH KNOWLEDGE; AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE SKILLS THEY NEED TO MAKE INTELLIGENT, HEALTHY CHOICES ABOUT ALCOHOL; DRUG USE; AND HOW THE DISEASE OF ADDICTION IS DEVELOPED. STUDENTS ALSO LEARN HOW ALL ADDICTIVE DRUGS AFFECT THE PLEASURE CENTERS OF THE BRAIN, WHO IS MOST LIKELY TO GET ADDICTED, AND WHY. THE CURRICULUM COVERS THE ENTIRE SPECTRUM OF THE DISEASE PROCESS. DUE TO THE CURRENT COVID ENVIRONMENT, DURING THIS PERIOD ADDICTION EDUCATION SOCIETY DEVELOPED PROGRAM SOFTWARE TO ALLOW STUDENTS TO ENGAGE WITH THE PROGRAM INDEPENDENTLY, VIRTUALLY AND/OR TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASSROOM ZOOM MEETINGS. THE VERSION 6 ONLINE PROGRAM WAS DEVELOPED TO ALLOW TEACHERS TO PROVIDE ONLINE CURRICULUM VIA ZOOM DURING THE FALL 2020 SCHOOL YEAR. SOFTWARE ENHANCEMENTS INCLUDE: -DESIGN MAIN FUNCTIONALITIES FOR 6 ONLINE SESSIONS -EMBED PRE/POST STUDENT SURVEY.
