THE PURPOSE OF THE MIDLAND STORYTELLING FESTIVAL IS TO UTILIZE STORY TO CAPTURE PARTICIPANT ATTENTION, ENTERTAIN, TEACH, STIMULATE DISCUSSION AND BUILD THE COMMUNITY OF MIDLAND, TX. STORYTELLERS OF NATIONAL & REGIONAL ACCLAIM ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN AN ANNUAL STORYTELLING FESTIVAL THAT IS HELD EACH YEAR DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER. COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, WORKSHOPS, AND SPECIALLY TARGETED PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO MAXIMIZE THE TELLER'S EXPERTISE, PROVIDE PARTICIPANT INTERACTION & ASSIST SCHOOL-AGE STUDENTS WITH UNDERSTANDING THE WRITING PROCESS THROUGH THE ART OF STORYTELLING.MIDLAND STORYTELLING FESTIVAL - A THREE-DAY FESTIVAL ON DECEMBER 3-5, 2020 FEATURING EIGHT NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED STORYTELLING ARTISTS. THE EVENT PROVIDED FOR AN EDUCATION CONNECTION DAY AS WELL AS COMMUNITY PROGRAMS. COLLABORATION WITH BASIN PBS ASSISTED US IN PROVIDING THE MEANS TO BROADCAST TO A LARGER AUDIENCE THROUGHOUT THE PERMIAN BASIN.YOUTH STORYTELLING WORKSHOPS/CONTEST (OCTOBER-NOVEMBER 2020) - CONDUCTED ALL SESSIONS OF THE WORKSHOP VIRTUALLY VIA ZOOM. OUR NEED TO PRE-RECORD THE PARTICIPANTS LED TO A COLLABORATION WITH CRESTVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH WHO ALLOWED US TO USE THEIR FACILITY TO RECORD. THE CONTEST WAS HELD VIRTUALLY AND THE TOP TELLERS WENT ON TO PERFORM ON ONE OF THE TELEVISED PROGRAMS OF THE ANNUAL FESTIVAL.
