THE LEADERSHIP ARTS INSTITUTE ("LAI") WAS FOUNDED TO CREATE AND ENCOURAGE THE NEXT GENERATION OF BUSINESS LEADERS ADVOCATING FOR THE ARTS. LAI FOCUSES ON BEST PRACTICES IN NONPROFIT BOARD LEADERSHIP, KNOWLEDGE OF THE NORTH TEXAS ARTS COMMUNITY AND THE IMPACT OF ARTS AND CULTURE IN THE WORKPLACE, IN EDUCATION AND IN THE COMMUNITY. UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM, GRADUATES ARE CUSTOM-MATCHED TO SERVE ON NONPROFIT BOARDS OF DIRECTORS. THIS PROVIDES TRAINED, DIVERSE BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS THAT STRENGTHEN THE NONPROFIT SECTOR. THE LAI CLASSES IN DALLAS AND COLLIN/DENTON COUNTIES COMPLETE AN ANNUAL CLASS PROJECT TO BENEFIT THE NORTH TEXAS COMMUNITY, SUPPORTED THROUGH CASH AND IN-KIND DONATIONS.
THE OBELISK AWARDS RECOGNIZES NONPROFIT AND BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS AND LEADERS WHO HAVE EVIDENCED EXTRAORDINARY SUPPORT OF THE ARTS AND CULTURE IN NORTH TEXAS, ENRICHING OUR REGION AND THE LIVES OF INDIVIDUAL CITIZENS. BY PROMOTING THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS, OTHERS ARE PROMPTED TO EMULATE THEIR EXAMPLE, FOSTERING GREATER SUPPORT FOR THE NONPROFIT ARTS AND CULTURAL SECTOR. FOR OVER 30 YEARS, THE OBELISK AWARDS HAVE PROVIDED ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ABOUT BUSINESS/ARTS PARTNERSHIPS THAT HAVE ADVANCED NORTH TEXAS TO ITS PLACE AS THE FIFTH LARGEST ART ECONOMY IN THE NATION.
ART AT WORK DEVELOPS INCLUSIVE, VIBRANT AND MEMORABLE ART PROGRAMS THAT OCCUR WITHIN THE WORKPLACE FOR THE BENEFIT OF CORPORATE EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ART AT WORK PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO VISUALLY ENHANCE THE WORK ENVIRONMENT, SHOWCASE COMPANY VALUES, PROMOTE CROSS-CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING, AND SUPPORT LOCAL ART COMMUNITIES.
