TO TRANSFORM OUR COMMUNITY ONE LIFE AT A TIME THROUGH RELATIONSHIP. RELATIONSHIP IS THE KEY TO REACHING SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN HURT BY THE HARSH EFFECTS OF POVERTY. WE BUILD THIS THROUGH: EDUCATION, MENTORSHIP AND FOOD SUFFICIENCY.

100% OF YOUTH WHO PARTICIPATE IN THE SALEM DREAM CENTER PROGRAMS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE 12 YEARS OF EDUCATION AND 99% EITHER ENTER COLLEGE, TECHNICAL SCHOOL OR ARE FULLY EMPLOYED. THE CRIME RATE IN THE COMMUNITY WHERE SALEM DREAM CENTER IS BASED DECLINED BY 4.1% DURING 2020-2021. THE JUVENILE CRIME RATE IN THE COMMUNITY WHERE SALEM DREAM CENTER IS BASED IS 27% LOWER THAN OTHER COMMUNITIES IN THE STATE WITH THE SAME DEMOGRAPHICS.
AT THE ONSET OF THE PANDEMIC, WE BEGAN PROVIDING FOOD TO FAMILIES WEEKLY OUT OF OUR COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER. EACH FAMILY RECEIVED MILK, CHEESE, PRODUCE, MEAT, EGGS, FLOUR, CORN MESA, RICE, BEANS, CANNED GOODS, PASTA, JUICE, PEANUT BUTTER, BREAD, BUTTER AND MUCH MORE. THOUGH THE YEAR WE PROVIDED FOOD TO AN AVERAGE OF 975 PEOPLE EACH MONTH.
DISTANCE LEARNING CREATED A DRAMATIC OBSTACLE TO THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES WE SERVE. THE MAJORITY DIDN'T HAVE ACCESS TO INTERNET, OR THE SUPPORT TO HELP NAVIGATE THE TECHNOLOGY REQUIRED WITH DISTANCE LEARNING. WE OPENED OUR LEARNING CENTER FOR VIRTUAL, AND THEN ONSITE TUTORING AND SUPPORT. WE ADAPTED OUR CENTER TO ACCOMMODATE COLLEGE STUDENTS WITH A PRIVATE AREA TO CONDUCT THEIR DISTANCE LEARNING. THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT REALIZED A 50% FAILURE RATE WITH CHILDREN OF COLOR. WE HAD A 100% GRADUATION RATE, WITH NO FAILURES.
