WE COLLABORATE WITH ORGANIZE AND BUILD THE CIVIC CAPACITY OF THE NEW ORLEANS MUSIC AND CULTURAL COMMUNITY TO PRESERVE AND NURTURE THE CITY'S CULTURE TO TRANSLATE COMMUNITY VISION INTO POLICY CHANGE AND TO CREATE A MORE JUST AND EQUITABLE CITY AND REGION.

DIRECT SERVICE AND COVID RECOVERY FOR THE CULTURAL COMMUNITY. THROUGHOUT 2021 WE CONTINUED OUR AID AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAM BOTH FOR COVID-19 AND FOR HURRICANE IDA. WE FOLLOWED THE SAME MODEL FOR BOTH DISASTERS. WE USED EXISTING COMMUNITY NETWORKS PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS ONLINE APPLICATIONS SOCIAL MEDIA AND E-MAIL NEWSLETTERS TO FIND CULTURAL COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE. ONCE WE GOT CONTACT INFORMATION WE SPOKE WITH EACH INDIVIDUAL OVER THE PHONE DISTRIBUTED A SMALL AMOUNT OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND THEN WORKED TO CONNECT THEM TO ADDITIONAL SERVICES INCLUDING GRANT PROGRAMS ASSISTANCE FILING UNEMPLOYMENT FOOD BANKS DISTRIBUTION RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. AS A PART OF THIS WORK WE ALSO COORDINATED WITH OTHER CULTURAL SERVING ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING TAKING A LEADERSHIP ROLE IN DEVELOPING A UNIVERSAL APPLICATION FOR AID TO BE USED IN FUTURE DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS.
ORGANIZING EMPOWERING AND EDUCATING THE CULTURAL COMMUNITY. WE HELD A TEACH-IN ON THE TOPIC OF FINANCIAL LITERACY; SERVED AS A BRIDGE BETWEEN CITY GOVERNMENT AND THE CULTURAL COMMUNITY; CONTINUED OUR WORK MEDIATING AND WORKING TOWARDS RESOLUTIONS ON ISSUES BETWEEN STREET PERFORMERS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT; AND WORKED WITH VARIOUS CULTURAL BUSINESSES AND CULTURE BEARERS TO ENSURE THEY WERE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW CURRENT COVID GUIDELINES AND RESTRICTIONS.
DEVELOP AND ADVOCATE FOR 'CULTURE FRIENDLY' POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. IN 2021 WE CONTINUED OUR FOCUS ON DEVELOPING NEW OUTDOOR LIVE ENTERTAINMENT REGULATIONS FOR THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS AS WELL AS ASSISTING VENUES NAVIGATE AN UNINTUITIVE PERMITTING PROCESS.
