OUR PURPOSE IS TO ADVANCE A PROGRESSIVE AGENDA FOR JUSTICE AND EQUITY FOR ALL CALIFORNIANS BY ENGAGING, MOBILIZING AND BUILDING THE LEADERSHIP OF YOUNG VOTERS OF COLOR AND THEIR FAMILIES BY PASSING PROGRESSIVE LEGISLATION AND TO A LESSER DEGREE, CANDIDATE ELECTIONS.

COMMUNICATIONS & NARRATIVE CAMPAIGNTHROUGHOUT 2021 POWERCA ACTION LED IN COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES DURING THE RECALL CAMPAIGN WITH THE MILLION VOTERS PROJECT (MVP), SECURING EARNED MEDIA AND 20 MEDIA MENTIONS INCLUDING 3 FEATURES IN THE LA TIMES. OUR MEDIA COVERAGE EXTENDED TO STATEWIDE AND NATIONAL OUTLETS, INCLUDING CALMATTERS, CNN, TEEN VOGUE, AND THE NEW YORK TIMES. WE TRAINED 25 YOUNG BIPOC SPOKESPEOPLE AND GREW OUR SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWING ACROSS ALL CHANNELS WITH A FOLLOWING OF 2,556 AND ENGAGING OVER 10,000 YOUNG PEOPLE ACROSS SOCIAL MEDIA.
ORGANIZING AND FIELD CAMPAIGNIN 2021, POWERCA ACTION LAUNCHED ITS CENTRAL VALLEY FUND OUR FUTURES CAMPAIGN THAT ALIGNS OUR CENTRAL VALLEY YOUTH ORGANIZING AROUND A YOUTH-CENTERED BUDGET AGENDA THAT INVESTS IN YOUNG PEOPLE AND ENSURES OUR COMMUNITIES BENEFIT FROM AN EQUITABLE DISTRIBUTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ARPA RESOURCES. THROUGH OUR FUND OUR FUTURES WE CONTACTED 5,767 YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE CENTRAL VALLEY ORGANIZING YOUNG PEOPLE TO TAKE ACTION IN LOCAL CAMPAIGNS AND CENTERING TOPICS ON IMPORTANT COMMUNITY ISSUES SUCH AS REDISTRICTING, HOUSING, AND AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN (ARP) FUNDS. IN DECEMBER 2021, WE WON $1.25M IN COVID FEDERAL RELIEF MONEY TO BE INVESTED INTO A YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM IN MERCED.IN SEPTEMBER OF 2021, POWERCA ACTION ENGAGED AND MOBILIZED 8,245 YOUNG VOTERS FOR THE 2021 SPECIAL ELECTION TARGETING YOUNG VOTERS THROUGHOUT THE CENTRAL VALLEY YOUNG LEADERS AND ORGANIZERS REACHED 1,600+ FAMILIES DOOR TO DOOR WITH VOTER EDUCATION AND GUIDELINES AROUND THE ELECTION. THROUGH OUR 2021 PROGRAM, WE TRAINED OVER 100 BIPOC CANVASSERS AND VOLUNTEERS, STRENGTHENING LOCAL EFFORTS TO BUILD YOUTH ENGAGEMENT ON AND OFF ELECTION CYCLES.
