CONNECTING FOR GOOD IS A NONPROFIT SOCIAL ENTERPRISE DEDICATED TO ADVANCING DIGITAL EQUITY BY PROVIDING AFFORDABLE INTERNET ACCESS, LOW-TO-NO COST COMPUTERS, AND DIGITAL LITERACY TRAINING TO LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES. WE SUPPORT THIS WORK THROUGH ELECTRONICS RECYCLING.

Part 3
DISTRIBUTING, THROUGH SALES AND OCCASIONAL GIVEAWAYS, REFURBISHED DESKTOP AND LAPTOP COMPUTERS IS THE SECOND LARGEST CFG PROGRAM. 2020 WAS A RECORD YEAR, MAINLY BECAUSE OF THE COVID-19 CRISIS, WHICH REQUIRED STUDENTS AND ADULT WORKERS TO ADAPT TO REMOTE, AT-HOME LEARNING AND WORKING. PRIOR TO ITS MERGER WITH PCS FOR PEOPLE ON JUNE 1, 2020, CONNECTING FOR GOOD DISTRIBUTED OVER 400 REFURBISHED COMPUTERS TO LOW INCOME HOUSEHOLDS.
IN 2020, CFG FOCUSED ON WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND INCREASING ECONOMIC IMPACT IN THE URBAN CORE. FIVE NEW STAFF WERE HIRED, ALL OF WHICH WERE TRAINED BY LOCAL WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AGENCIES FOR "SECOND CHANCE" INDIVIDUALS. THIS GROWTH HELPED THE LOCAL ECONOMY BENEFIT FROM EMPLOYMENT GROWTH, WHILE THE LOCAL FAMILIES LACKING TECHNOLOGY HAVE BENEFITED FROM CFG'S ABILITY TO SCALE PROGRAM IMPACT.
DIGITAL LITERACY TRAINING, INCLUDING THE PROVISION OF FREE TAX PREPARATION SERVICES ON WIFI-ENABLED COMPUTERS, IS CONNECTING FOR GOOD'S (CFG) BIGGEST PROGRAM. OPERATED THROUGHOUT 2020 IN ONE PRIMARY LOCATION: 3210 MICHIGAN AVENUE IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI; WITH TECH SUPPORT TO OTHER IRS-APPROVED SITES FOR FREE TAX ASSISTANCE THROUGHOUT THE KANSAS CITY AREA. CFG PROVIDED DIGITAL SKILLS SERVICES AND TRAINING TO 8,300 INDIVIDUALS IN 2020.
