Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
TABLE TO TABLE BUILDS VITAL CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ABUNDANCE AND HUNGER IN JOHNSON COUNTY. OUR MISSION IS TO KEEP WHOLESOME, EDIBLE FOOD FROM GOING TO WASTE BY COLLECTING IT FROM DONORS AND DISTRIBUTING TO THOSE IN NEED THROUGH AGENCIES SERVING OUR MOST VULNERABLE NEIGHBORS. TABLE TO TABLE (T2T) IS THE FOUNDATION OF A COMPLEX, HUNGER RELIEF SYSTEM IN OUR COMMUNITY. T2T DISTRIBUTES MORE THAN 2 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD ANNUALLY TO AGENCIES LOCATED IN 8 OF THE 11 COMMUNITIES IN JOHNSON COUNTY. OUR FOOD REACHED MORE THAN 14%, OR 22,000, COUNTY RESIDENTS LAST YEAR. JOHNSON COUNTY FOOD RELIEF AGENCIES DISTRIBUTE NEARLY 4 MILLION MEALS IN A YEAR. T2T IS THE SOURCE OF MORE THAN 50% OF THE FOOD AVAILABLE TO THE HUNGER RELIEF NETWORK. WE PRIORITIZE THE DELIVERY OF THE MOST NUTRITIOUS AND OTHERWISE COST-PROHIBITIVE FOODS, HALF OF ALL THE FOOD WE DELIVER - MORE THAN A MILLION POUNDS - IS PRODUCE, MEAT AND DAIRY. STRUGGLING JOHNSON COUNTY FAMILIES OFTEN DON'T HAVE ADEQUATE ACCESS TO FOOD AND EVEN LESS ACCESS TO NUTRITIOUS FRESH FOODS AS THESE KINDS OF FOOD ARE THE COSTLIEST. TABLE TO TABLE EFFICIENTLY KEEPS FOOD OUT OF THE WASTE STREAM, MINIMIZES FOOD INSECURITY FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES, AND RECAPTURES MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN VALUABLE FOOD FOR OUR COMMUNITY.
