CENTRO DE AYUDA LEGAL PARA INMIGRANTES'(CALI) MAIN MISSION SINCE ITS CREATION WAS TO PROVIDE QUALITY LEGAL REPRESENTATION TO THE LOW-INCOME IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY. ON MAY 2015, CALI OPENED A NEW OFFICE IN GILROY, CALIFORNIA, TO SERVE THE LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY LIVING IN MONTEREY, SANTA CRUZ, AND SAN BENITO COUNTIES. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2017, CALI BEGAN DOING PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS ON LIVE TV AND PARTICIPATING IN COMMUNITY PHONE BANKING.IT HAS BEEN A PART OF CALI'S MISSION TO OFFER LEGAL REPRESENTATION AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION TO PEOPLE WHO WERE BROUGHT INTO THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY AT A VERY YOUNG AGE BY THEIR PARENTS. (SEE SCHEDULE O FOR DESCRIPTION OF ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS)IN A TIME WITH UNPRECEDENTED ANTI-IMMIGRANT SENTIMENT, CALI HAS MADE IT PART OF ITS MISSION TO FURTHER EDUCATE IMMIGRANTS ON THEIR RIGHTS. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022, CALI CONTINUED ON TO EDUCATE IMMIGRANTS ON THEIR RIGHTS AND OFFERED QUALITY REPRESENTATION TO THE LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY IN IMMIGRATION MATTERS AS WELL AS REMOTE SERVICES. FOR CASES THAT REQUIRED IMMIGRATION COURT REPRESENTATION, CALI OFFERED GUIDANCE AND REFERRALS WHILE EXPLAINING THE INITIAL STEPS OF REMOVAL DEFENSE. CALI ALSO WORKED TO FIND QUALITY IN-COURT REPRESENTATION FOR UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN. ALL REFERRAL WORK WAS DONE ON A PRO-BONO BASIS.
