("MPD") IS A 501(C)(3) NON-PROFIT LAW FIRM THAT PROVIDES LEGAL DEFENSE SERVICES FOR MISDEMEANOR TO CAPITAL MURDER CASES, JUVENILE MATTERS FROM DELINQUENCY TO DEPENDENCY, MENTAL HEALTH CASES FROM CIVIL COMMITMENTS TO MENTAL HEALTH COURTS, AND SPECIALTY PROJECTS FROM DRUG COURTS TO COMMUNITY COURT. MPD HANDLES THOUSANDS OF CASES A YEAR WITH THE PRIMARY PUBLIC DEFENSE CONTRACTS IN MULTNOMAH AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES AS WELL AS THE LARGEST CAPITAL DEFENSE CONTRACT IN THE STATE.MPD IS ALSO DEDICATED TO BUILDING A HOLISTIC MODEL IN WHICH WE ARE A COMMUNITY-BASED RESOURCE, PROVIDING A BROAD ARRAY OF LEGAL SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING OUTCOMES LIKE LONG-TERM STABILITY.

THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED CRIMINAL LEGAL SERVICES TO INDIGENT DEFENDANTS IN MULTNOMAH AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES AND CAPITAL CRIME DEFENSE SERVICES ACROSS THE STATE OF OREGON. METROPOLITAN PUBLIC DEFENDER SERVICES HANDLES THOUSANDS OF CRIMINAL CASES PER YEAR AND IS RECOGNIZED NATIONALLY FOR ITS LEADERSHIP IN THE PUBLIC DEFENSE COMMUNITY, ITS TRAINING PROGRAMS, AND THE GUIDANCE, SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT OF ITS ATTORNEYS. WITH THIS REPUTATION AND ROLE COME AN ABIDING INTEREST IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM ISSUES, AND THE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO AFFECT CHANGE IN THOSE SYSTEMS, BOTH AT THE COUNTY AND STATE LEVELS.CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O. MPD'S COMMUNITY LAW DIVISION PROVIDES BARRIER REDUCTION SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS WITH PRIOR INVOLVEMENT IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM THROUGH LEGAL REPRESENTATION ASSISTING WITH REINTEGRATION AND RESTORATION INTO THE COMMUNITY.
