THE PRIMARY MISSION IS TO PROTECT AND VALUE THE OCEAN AND ITS WILDLIFE. WE INCLUDE THE PROTECTION OF ALL WILDLIFE, LAND AND SEA. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE A FOCUS ON THE HIGH SEAS, INCREASING THE NUMBER AND SIZE MARINE PROTECTED AREAS, PREVENTION OF DEEP SEA MINING, AND SPECIES PROTECTION, INCLUDING CORAL REEFS.

REGULATIONS OF HIGH SEAS, WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON DEEP SEA MINING. DEVELOPED OTHER AVENUES WITH OTHER OCEAN ORGANIZATIONS AND SEVERAL SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERTS IN AN EFFORT TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC OF THE LONG-TERM DAMAGES OF DEEP SEA MINING.


STUDENTS ON ICE IS A REGISTERED CHARITY IN CANADA, TAX NUMBER 83664 8766 RR0001. IT ALSO IS A REGISTERED US CHARITY, LISTED AS POLAR EDUCATION FOUNDATION, 501(C) 20 5853356. FOR OVER A DECADE, OCEAN ELDERS HAS WORKED WITH STUDENTS ON ICE (SOI), A CANADIAN ORGANIZATION FOCUSED ON GLOBAL YOUTH PROGRAMS, PRIMARILY VIA POLAR EXPEDITIONS. SEVERAL OCEAN ELDERS HAVE PARTICIPATED IN PAST EXPEDITIONS AND ALSO SIT ON THEIR BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND/OR ADVISORS. THE PANDEMIC PREVENTED OUR PARTICIPATION OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS, BUT WE CONTRIBUTED THE FUNDS WHICH HAD BEEN RAISED FOR THIS PURPOSE TO THE ORGANIZATION THIS YEAR AND PLAN TO PARTICIPATE IN FUTURE EXPEDITIONS.


MARINE PROTECTED AREAS - EFFORTS CONTINUE IN THE US AND WITH OTHER COUNTRIES.


SPECIES PROTECTION - WE CONTINUE TO WORK WITH OTHER NGOS FOR THE PROTECTION OF SHARKS, RAYS, TURTLES, CORALS, TUNA, WHALES, AND THEIR HABITATS AS ECOSYSTEMS ARE INCREASINGLY THREATENED BY HUMAN ACTIVITY.
