EMPOWERED BY LIGHT IS A MISSION-DRIVEN ORGANIZATION EMPOWERING VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES ON THE FRONTLINES OF CLIMATE CHANGE, WILDLIFE LOSS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEVASTATION.

IN PUERTO RICO, EBL CONTINUED ITS PROGRAM TO BOOST RESILIENCY BY HELPING FUND THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW SOLAR TECHNOLOGY ON A FARMING COOPERATIVE SERVING DOZENS OF CUSTOMERS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE ISLAND. IN COLLABORATION WITH TWO PUERTO-RICO BASED PARTNERS, EBL HELPED FUND SOLAR +STORAGE SYSTEMS FOR A THIRD COMMUNITY RESILIENCY CENTER AND FOR A CARE HOME FOR LOW-INCOME ELDERLY.
IN THE CONTIGUOUS 48 STATES, EBL EXPANDED ITS US PROGRAM BY INSTALLING SOLAR AND ENERGY STORAGE ON A COMMUNITY HALL ON THE NORTHERN CHEYENNE RESERVATION IN SOUTHEASTERN MONTANA.
IN NEPAL, EBL HELPED DEVELOP AND FULLY FUNDED A PILOT PROJECT, ADMINISTERED BY A LOCAL NGO PARTNER, THAT PROVIDED SOLAR-POWERED WATER PUMPS TO EIGHT SMALLHOLDER FARMS USING A LEASE-TO-OWN PROGRAM. THE SOLAR PUMPS HAVE ALLOWED THE FARMERS TO TRANSITION OFF DIESEL, SAVE MONEY AND EXPAND THEIR FARMING EFFORTS TO INCLUDE FISH FARMING (AQUACULTURE).
DESPITE CONTINUED RESTRICTIONS AND SAFETY CONCERNS ON TRAVEL DUE TO COVID- 19 AND CONSTRAINTS ON SUPPLY CHAINS ACROSS INDUSTRIES, EMPOWERED BY LIGHT CONTINUED TO INSTALL SOLAR AND ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS TO SUPPORT UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES AROUND THE WORLD.
