A GRANT FROM THE USDA FARMERS MARKET PROMOTION PROGRAM HAS EQUIPPED MIFMA WITH THE FUNDS TO LAUNCH A STATEWIDE COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN TO ATTRACT RESIDENTS AND TOURISTS ALIKE TO SHOP AT MICHIGAN'S FARMERS MARKETS. IN 2022, THE CAMPAIGN INCLUDED PAID ADVERTISING, VIDEO PRODUCTION, AND DISTRIBUTION OF TEMPLATES FOR MANAGERS TO USE TO PROMOTE THEIR OWN MARKETS.

THE DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS PROGRAM IS A NUTRITION INCENTIVE PROGRAM THAT MATCHES THE AMOUNT OF SNAP BENEFITS CONSUMERS SPEND AT PARTICIPATING RETAILERS WITH ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO PURCHASE MORE LOCALLY GROWN FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES. THE PROGRAM OPERATES IN MORE THAN 120 FARM DIRECT RETAIL SITES IN MICHIGAN. MIFMA PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO THESE SITES AND SUPPORTS PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION IN THESE FARM DIRECT RETAIL SETTINGS ACROSS MICHIGAN.
