TO PROVIDE CHARITABLE ASSISTANCE TO UNDERREPRESENTED COMMUNITIES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC BY PROVIDING NON-PARTISAN VOTER REGISTRATION AND MOBILIZATION, CAPACITY BUILDING AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES.

Part 3 - Line 4a

PROGRAM #1 COACHELLA VALLEY COLLABORATION BETWEEN CNC EF AND UC IRVINE ON THE HEALTH IMPACTS OF REPEATED WILDFIRES AND SMOKE EXPOSURE IN EASTERN COACHELLA VALLEY. BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND APRIL 2023, CNC EF/UC IRVINE SURVEYED 118 RESIDENTS, REVEALING SIGNIFICANT PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES, ESPECIALLY AMONG CHILDREN AND THE ELDERLY. FINDINGS UNDERSCORE THE URGENT NEED FOR IMPROVED EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND TAILORED FIRE PREVENTION EDUCATION IN SPANISH, AIMING TO INFORM POLICYMAKERS AND ENHANCE COMMUNITY RESILIENCE. THE CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD FUNDED THE RESEARCH.


PROGRAM #2: SACRAMENTO, SAN JOAQUIN, STANISLAUS, MERCED, MADERA, FRESNO, KINGS, TULARE, KERN COUNTIES: CNC EF IMPLEMENTED NONPARTISAN VOTER EDUCATION OUTREACH VIA LIVE PHONE CALLS AND DOOR-TO-DOOR CANVASSING. CNC EF ALSO COLLECTED SURVEYS FOR A NEEDS ASSESSMENT TO UNDERSTAND THE ISSUES AFFECTING SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY FAMILIES. THE COMPLETED SURVEYS WERE UTILIZED TO PRODUCE A REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE OF SURVEY VOTERS, WITH RESULTS PUBLISHED AS SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY SPEAKS. AN ADDITIONAL REPRESENTATIVE SURVEY OF RIVERSIDE COUNTY WAS CONDUCTED TO LEARN ABOUT ISSUES IMPACTING COACHELLA VALLEY FAMILIES.


PROGRAM #3: SACRAMENTO, MERCED, FRESNO, COACHELLA VALLEY: UTILIZING THE FINDINGS FROM SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY SPEAKS AND ADDITIONAL SURVEYS COLLECTED FROM RIVERSIDE COUNTY. CNC EF IMPLEMENTED BROAD LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGNS VIA ONE-ON-ONE PERSONAL VISITS, HOUSE MEETINGS, MONTHLY DOOR-TO-DOOR NEIGHBORHOOD CANVASSING, AND MONTHLY ISSUES IMPACTING RESIDENT-LED MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS. EMPHASIS HAS BEEN PLACED ON WOMEN, SUCH AS AFFORDABLE HOUSING, HEALTHCARE ACCESS, AND EDUCATION. CNC EF ORGANIZERS SUPPORTED NEIGHBORHOOD COMMITTEES IN DEVELOPING ISSUE-BASED EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGNS FOR RESIDENTS AND ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS.
