LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM - THE MISSOURI ASSOCIATION OF TRIAL ATTORNEYS REVIEWED ALL LEGISLATIVE BILLS INTRODUCED IN THE MISSOURI GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND MONITORED BILLS DETERMINED TO BE OF INTEREST TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION AND THEIR CLIENTS. MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION, STAFF AND CONSULTANTS TESTIFIED AND/OR LOBBIED FOR OR AGAINST PROPOSED LEGISLATION RELATING TO THE CIVIL JUSTICE SYSTEM, THE RIGHT TO TRIAL BY JURY, AND INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. BY PROVIDING ISSUE BRIEFS, TESTIMONY, AND CONSULTATION REGARDING IDENTIFIED ISSUES, THE ASSOCIATION WAS SUCCESSFUL IN STOPPING OR AMENDING PROPOSED LEGISLATION WITH POTENTIAL TO RESTRICT OR LIMIT THE RIGHTS OF INDIVIDUALS AND/OR THE BENEFITS OF THE CIVIL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND RIGHT TO TRIAL BY JURY.
CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION AND ANNUAL CONVENTION - THE MISSOURI ASSOCIATION OF TRIAL ATTORNEYS PRESENTED AN ANNUAL CONVENTION FEATURING CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION SEMINARS AND OFFERED 68 INTERACTIVE/LIVE TELE-CONFERENCE SEMINARS VIA THE INTERNET ON TOPICS OF INTEREST TO MEMBERS OF THE TRIAL BAR. THE SEMINARS OFFERED PROGRAMS FOR MEMBERS TO EARN REQUIRED CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION CREDITS AND TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE OF NEW TECHNOLOGY AND SKILLS IN THE ART OF ADVOCACY TO HELP THEM BETTER SERVE THEIR CLIENTS.
