DUES, PARTNERSHIP, GENERAL OPERATION, SUSTAIN 6,584 MEMBERS, THE ASSOCIATION ORGANIZES RELEVANT EVENTS TO FOSTER THE GOALS OF THE ASSOCIATION. THERE ARE GROUPS, SUCH AS THE WOMEN IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION AND THE YOUNG LAWYERS DIVISION, WHICH PROVIDE OPPORTUNITY FOR MENTORING AND NETWORKING WITH PEERS AS WELL AS WITH OTHERS IN THE LEGAL COMMUNITY. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO STRIVES TO KEEP MEMBERS INFORMED THROUGH PUBLICATIONS SUCH AS THE ST. LOUIS BAR JOURNAL AND THE ST. LOUIS LAWYER MAGAZINE.DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE CONTINUE TO OFFER BOTH IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL OPTIONS FOR OUR EVENTS AND MEETINGS; ALTHOUGH VIRTUAL MEETINGS REMAIN VERY POPULAR.
THE MISSOURI BAR REQUIRES ALL LAWYERS ACTIVELY PRACTICING LAW IN MISSOURI TO COMPLETE 15 HOURS OF CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION (CLE) EVERY YEAR. THE ASSOCIATION OFFERS OVER 80 CLE CLASSES TO ALL LAYWERS WITH DISCOUNTED REGISTRATION FEES FOR MEMBERS EVERY YEAR.DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE CONTINUE TO OFFER BOTH IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL OPTIONS FOR CLE SEMINARS; ALTHOUGH VIRTUAL OPTIONS REMAIN VERY POPULAR.
THE LAWYER REFERRAL & INFORMATION SERVICE (LRIS) IS SPONSORED BY THE ASSOCIATION AS A PUBLIC SERVICE. THE LRIS MISSION IS TO ASSIST THE PUBLIC IN OBTAINING LEGAL SERVICES. IN OPERATION FOR MORE THAN 70 YEARS, THE LRIS SERVES AS THE GATEWAY BETWEEN THE PUBLIC AND THE LEGAL PROFESSION. DURING THE PAST YEAR, THE LRIS MADE APPROXIMATELY 1,503 REFERRALS TO LAWYERS AND OTHER AGENCIES AND SERVICES IN THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS AREA. BEGINNING IN 2016, THIS IS THROUGH AN ONLINE PLATFORM.
