PARENT MENTOR PROGRAMTHE PARENT MENTOR PROGRAM PROVIDES DIRECT SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE TO PARENTS, THROUGH TRAINED VOLUNTEERS, IN PREPARING FOR THEIR CHILD'S INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION PLAN (IEP). PARENT MENTORS HELP PARENTS PREPARE FOR MEETINGS AND ON REQUEST MAY ATTEND THE IEP MEETING WITH THE PARENT. THE ROLE OF A PARENT MENTOR IS TO EMPOWER THE PARENT AND ASSIST THE PARENT IN BECOMING A STRONG EDUCATIONAL ADVOCATE FOR THEIR OWN CHILD. MPACT PARENT MENTORS ARE SCREENED AND RECEIVE TRAINING AND SUPERVISION FROM MPACT STAFF.
PARENT TRAINING AND INFORMATION PROGRAMTHE PTI PROGRAM PROVIDES TRAINING AND INFORMATION TO PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AND PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK WITH CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES. WHILE THIS PROGRAM IS PRIMARILY FOR THE CHILD'S EDUCATION RIGHTS THROUGH IDEA 2004, MPACT PROVIDES INFORMATION AND REFERRAL FOR ANYTHING DISABILITY RELATED.
PATHFINDERS PROGRAMTHE MIDWESTERN COLLABORATIVE BRINGS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR 8 PTI CENTERS (IOWA, KANSAS, MISSOURI, MONTANA, NEBRASKA, NORTH DAKOTA, SOUTH DAKOTA, AND WYOMING) TO EXPLORE, CREATE, AND CELEBRATE STATEWIDE SERVICES THAT FOCUS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF SELF-ADVOCACY, SELF-DISCOVERY, AND INDEPENDENCE FOR YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES. MPACT WORKING CLOSELY WITH PROFESSIONALS FROM BOTH VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION CENTERS AND CENTERS FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING TO BRING COLLABORATIVE AND INNOVATIVE SERVICES TO GUIDE YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES TO SERVICES CENTERING ON SECONDARY TRANSITION AND LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL.
RAISE PROGRAMRAISE WAS FUNDED BY A NATIONAL GRANT FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION OFFICE OF SPECIAL EDUCATION AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES (OSERS) TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT TO EIGHT REHABILITATION SERVICES ADMINISTRATIONS (RSA) AND PTIS. IT FOSTERS DEVELOPMENT OF EXPERTISE IN ASSISTING STATE-LEVEL, RSA-FUNDED PTIS AS THEY WORK WITH TRANSITION-AGED YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES TO ACCESS TRANSITION SERVICES, VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION, AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
