THE NHCSL IS THE PREEMINENT ORGANIZATION SERVING AND REPRESENTING THE INTERESTS OF OVER 400 HISPANIC STATE LEGISLATORS FROM ALL STATES, COMMONWEALTHS, AND TERRITORIES OF THE UNITED STATES. OUR MISSION IS TO SERVE AS A CATALYST FOR JOINT ACTION ON ISSUES OF COMMON CONCERN TO ALL SEGMENTS OF THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY; A FORUM FOR INFORMATION EXCHANGE AND MEMBER NETWORKING; AN INSTITUTE FOR LEADERSHIP TRAINING; A LIAISON WITH SISTER U.S. HISPANIC ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY; A PROMOTER OF PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS WITH BUSINESS AND LABOR; AND A PARTNER WITH HISPANIC STATE OR PROVINCIAL LEGISLATORS AND THEIR ASSOCIATIONS REPRESENTING CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA.

QUAD CAUCUS - AN ONGOING CONVENING OF LEGISLATORS OF COLOR TO ACKNOWLEDGE, ADDRESS AND ADVOCATE FOR COMMUNITIES OF COLOR AND SUPPORT MORE EQUITABLE OUTCOMES.


EDUCATION - THIS PROGRAM FOCUSES ON IN-DEPTH POLICY RESEARCH, EDUCATION AND GENERAL POLICYMAKING SUPPORT THAT ENHANCES PARTICIPANTS' UNDERSTANDING OF PUBLIC POLICY AREAS LIKE EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE, IMMIGRATION, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, AND OTHER ISSUES SUCH AS CIVIC EDUCATION & VOTER REGISTRATION, CRIMINAL AND SOCIAL JUSTICE, EMPLOYMENT, LABOR & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORTATION. THROUGH THE PROGRAM, PARTICIPANTS ARE EDUCATED ON THE IMPACT THAT THESE PUBLIC POLICY AREAS HAVE ON LATINOS, OTHER PEOPLE OF COLOR, AND UNSERVED AND UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES, AND ON DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE POLICY SOLUTIONS THAT BEST IMPROVE THE OUTCOMES FOR THOSE CONSTITUENCIES, THROUGH POLICY SESSIONS, REPORTS, FELLOWSHIPS, AND OTHER PROGRAMMING COMPONENTS.


HISPANIC SUMMIT -- CONVENES STATE LEGISLATORS, HISPANIC ORGANIZATIONS, CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVES, AND HIGH-RANKING ELECTED OFFICIALS AND DIPLOMATS TO DISCUSS ISSUES THAT CONCERN THE HISPANIC/LATINO POPULATION. THE AGENDA REFLECTS THE CURRENT STATE OF THE HISPANIC/LATINO COMMUNITY AND DELVES INTO UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE WAYS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE CONSTITUENCIES WE SERVE. ISSUES RELATE TO HEALTH CARE, CHILDHOOD OBESITY, EDUCATION, HOUSING AND VARIOUS OTHER ISSUES AND TRENDS.
